"Squeak Squad Title Screen",[2] sometimes known as "Mouse Attack Title Screen" in British English,[3] as the name of the theme implies, is the title theme for Kirby: Squeak Squad. This theme was composed by Jun Ishikawa.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Squeak Squad Title Screen" is a short, chipper theme in the key of C major. The theme starts with a short and sweet intro and dives into the first part of the main melody. While this short melody plays, some fast chords can be heard in the background. The melody is repeated a second time but with a different instrument. The second portion of this theme then starts with a melody sounding somewhat similar to another title screen theme but then appears to be its own unique melody, which is accompanied by a descending bass. The rhythm of the melody is repeated again a second time, but with differing notes. After this concludes, the short theme then loops.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]
In Kirby: Squeak Squad, this theme plays at the title screen and can be found as track 05 in the Sound Room. Additionally, it serves as the basis of the first half of the ending theme from the same game.
Kirby Star Allies[edit]
In Kirby Star Allies, a faithful acoustic arrangement of the theme can be heard in Daroach's pseudo-HAL room in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!, as well as in the Jukebox as track 165. This version is titled "Squeak Squad Title Screen — Star Allies Arrangement" in American English, and "Mouse Attack Title Screen (Star Allies Arrangement)" in British English. It was arranged by Jun Ishikawa.[4]
Kirby's Dream Buffet[edit]
The original version, named "Kirby: Squeak Squad: Memorial Song 1" in the American English version and "Kirby: Mouse Attack: Memorial Song 1" in the British English version, is unlocked for potential use in races upon reaching Gourmet Rank 74.
Other appearances[edit]
"Squeak Squad Title Screen" was part of the "Kirby Through the Years: 2005 - 2022" medley in the Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Festival. The medley was conducted by Yuuta Ogasawara.
