"Burning, Churning Power Plant" is the theme for the stage of the same name in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It was composed by Jun Ishikawa.[1]

Kirby about to enter the burning, churning power plant.

"Burning, Churning Power Plant" is an intense, electronic and synth-heavy song that plays at 4/4. In general, it resembles other lava stage songs composed by Jun Ishikawa, in particular "Mountains in an Angry Sky", "Nature's Navel", and "Star Lavadom", and appears to take inspiration from "Studying the Factory" as well. It consists of two main sections: the first is set in the key of G minor and starts with a short piano intro, and then transitions into a segment consisting primarily of an electronic beat playing over and over alongside an irregular percussion pattern, while a harsh and strong synth plays a simple sequence of notes. After some bars, a more ominous synth joins in, and these instruments continue playing together for a couple more bars. Eventually all instruments but the strong synth stop, as it basically starts a short transition segment, that soon after is joined by the drums again, and the song transitions to its second main section.

The second section is set in the key of A minor and starts more hopeful than the previous one, but continues the trend of using simple and spread out notes for its main melody. It starts with a call and response segment where two instruments alternate between each other using different phrases, which is eventually resolved with one of them taking over. The song then transitions to its main segment, which is very reminiscent of "Desert Stage" from Kirby's Dream Land 3, but is ultimately a different sequence of notes. The melody is established in the first bars of this segment, and it is repeated a couple times by different instruments and with some other minor changes throughout, all accompanied by the irregular percussion, until it eventually resolves and the segment ends with brass instruments. The last segment, very similar to the end segment of "Studying the Factory", then starts, with its main melody mostly consisting of long notes, and using instruments that bring the image of a factory or power plant. At the end of this segment, the piano from the intro comes back in the background, until it is eventually left alone to play said intro, and the song loops.

After one loop, the second segment of the first section starts differently, and features a piano and a castanets-like instrument instead of the ominous synth throughout all of it. Otherwise, the song is unchanged.

  • "Burning, Churning Power Plant" is Shinya Kumazaki's favorite theme composed by Jun Ishikawa for Kirby and the Forgotten Land; he commented how it fully showcases Ishikawa's individuality as a composer.[2]
