"Kirby's History"[conjectural title] is the theme for the Kirby's History mode of Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition. It was arranged by Hirokazu Ando.[1]

Composition[edit]

Kirby contemplates his history.

"Kirby's History" is an orchestral medley of "Castle Lololo" from Kirby's Dream Land and "Cloudy Park" from Kirby's Dream Land 2. The "Castle Lololo" section, while set in the same keys and time signature as the base track, has its tonality softened by the presence of major seventh chords, coloring A minor with F major. Rather than rapid repeated notes, the accompaniment is presented in slower-paced staccato string chords. The melody is played by woodwinds fitting the registers: a clarinet and flute, later joined by a viola. This combined gives the theme a calm character, which only shifts at the end of each loop, where the string accompaniment becomes more elaborate and brings back the sixteenth notes from the base theme. "Castle Lololo" loops and plays three times.

At the end of the third loop, the music begins a smooth transitional section in 3/4 based on the intro section of "Cloudy Park": while the clarinet and flute carry out their own rising counterpoint, the string sixteenth notes, ornamental in nature, lead away to C major. Soon after, the main part of the "Cloudy Park" segment begins in A major, its original key. The melody is initially lead by the viola, while the accompaniment predominantly features the clarinet. In the second phrase, the melody has a bigger register contrast, as it is played by the high flute and the low cello. The second section, which also retains the key changes from the original theme, has the clarinet take the lead and the cello become the sole accompanying instrument. Upon the section's reprise, the viola replaces the clarinet. Besides these instrumentation intricacies, the arrangement is faithful to the original. The track loops from the first section of "Cloudy Park" indefinitely.
