Samus (full name Samus Aran) is a guest character that Kirby meets up with in Stage 2 of Iceberg in Kirby's Dream Land 3. She is an intergalactic bounty hunter who travels from world to world, often with the objective of hunting down Metroids. She is easily recognized by her tall and imposing figure, clad in her signature red and orange power armor (though her height relative to Kirby's in Kirby's Dream Land 3 suggests she is much shorter here than in her home series).
Kirby can find her at the very end of the stage, and she will give Kirby a Heart Star if he took care of the Metroids earlier on in the lava caverns. When appearing before Kirby, Samus will have her helmet on if the Heart Star condition is not met, and off if it is.
In the Super Smash Bros. series
In the Super Smash Bros. series, Samus is playable as a fighter in every installment, known for her heavyweight, but floaty characteristics and her heavy use of projectiles and other long-ranged attacks. In each game, Kirby can copy her to gain her helmet and the ability to fire Charge Shots as his neutral special attack.
