“ | This critter's body is literally made of flames, and he can spit fire to boot. There's little doubt that he must have a warm heart and a fiery personality, but no one is willing to get close enough to find out. | ” | — Figurine description from Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. |
Hot Head is a common enemy in the Kirby series who first appeared Kirby's Adventure. In all of the games in which it appears, Hot Head gives out the Fire ability when inhaled.
Physical Appearance
Hot Head is traditionally an orange-red creature, but can also be found in other colors. It is similar in height to Kirby, making it roughly 8 inches tall. Its physique consists of a main head-body with two stubby feet and no arms. Its mouth is funnel-shaped, similar to octopus-like enemies such as Flotzo. It has a bright orange mane which often flickers like fire, making its incendiary nature fairly easy to recognize.
Attacks
Hot Head attacks Kirby by either shooting a single fireball from its mouth at Kirby, usually done from a distance, or breathing out fire, which is usually done if it is near Kirby. Neither of these attacks are particularly quick, but they can catch Kirby off-guard if he is not paying attention. The fireball attack in particular is capable of being fired at many different angles, making it more potentially accurate than Shotzo fire.
When Hot Head is controlled by Ghost Kirby in Kirby Squeak Squad:
- Press and release B to shoot a fireball;
- Press and hold B to breathe fire.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Hoy head makes its debut appearance in 3-D in this game. Here, it can come in various sizes when encountered in Extra Mode.
Kirby's Dream Collection
Hot Head appears as one of the enemies that can be encountered in the New Challenge Stages, taking from its Kirby's Return to Dream Land appearance.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe & Kirby: Planet Robobot
Hot Head appears in both of these games, gaining a slight visual update from its Return to Dream Land incarnation. It gains the ability to shoot fireballs between the foreground and background.
A randomly-obtained Keychain depicting Hot Head in its Kirby's Adventure likeness can also be collected in Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Hot Head appears as a common enemy in this game. It once again shoots fireballs at Kirby, though these can be blocked using the Rainbow Rope. Given the nature of this game, this is Hot Head's only appearance where is cannot provide a Copy Ability.
Variants
- In Kirby Squeak Squad, there is a Bubble ability-yielding counterpart called Bubble Head.
- In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, there is a super variant of Hot Head known as the Super Hot Head, which provides the Monster Flame Super Ability.
- In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, there is a giant version called Colossal Hot Head, which fights in a tag-team with Colossal Waddle Dee and Colossal Kabu.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Sticker
Hot Head makes a cameo appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a power-up Sticker for Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary. It can only be equipped on Kirby, King Dedede and Meta Knight and increase their Flame attack by 10.
