HR-H is one of the bosses in The Crystal Shards that can be defeated with minimal activity on Kirby's part, save for the sporadic jumping required under certain conditions. HR-H uses his outward appendages for the majority of the battle, attempting to smack and pummel Kirby into the platform, not to mention singeing Kirby's tail with its single laser, based at its head. Over the course of the skirmish, HR-H will produce rockets that intend to hit Kirby, however, they instead often provide fodder for attack projectiles whenever one of HR-H's arms make it within range of Kirby's breath.

After Kirby manages to damage HR-H significantly, the boss will switch tactics and "chase" Kirby along the platform, looking more like a spaceship (especially like Heavy Lobster) than an android, as HR-E. The boss will continue to fire rockets and snap at Kirby with its mechanical pincers, however, as long as Kirby maintains the same attack behavior as the first part of the battle, HR-E will be defeated simply and without injury.

Like with all enemies and bosses, if Kirby is in possession of a certain copy ability (i.e. Fire, Cutter, etc.) or a combination of two, he will be able to use such powers to injure the boss, instead of sucking in and propelling the rockets provided, as in this battle.

* The HR in HR-D3 in the Kirby Quest sub-game of Kirby Mass Attack and Extra Mode of Kirby's Return to Dream Land seems to be a reference to HR-H (the D3 part references the pronunciation of King Dedede's name, which is leftover from plans to make it be one of his fighters in the scrapped Nintendo GameCube game).
*The "HR" in HR-D3's name from Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake is a reference to HR-H. In the Dedede Directory post about HR-H, King Dedede mentions that there are robots in the same series that look like him.<ref>{{cite|シリーズに登場するオレさま似のロボたちにも、変形機能があっても良かったな! *It is possible that this robot, and the factory in which it came from, were constructed by the Haltmann Works Company, or perhaps copied by them.

HR-H is the futuristic, anthropomorphic guardian of the Shiver Star, battled in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. HR-H places a firm focus on physicality in each of its attacks, all of which attempt to either smash or blow Kirby to smithereens. Like previous bosses, however, HR-H's weak point is practically anywhere on its body that Kirby can land a shot. According to the Enemy Info Cards, HR-H changes its name to HR-E when it enters its second form.

Battle[edit]

Boss fight against HR-H
HR-H in its HR-E form during a later part of the battle.

The main challenge of this battle is being able to avoid HR-H's rockets and wing attacks. HR-H primarily uses its wings to attack Kirby, though also possesses a sweeping laser occasionally fired from its head. Over the course of the battle, HR-H fires rockets at Kirby that can be inhaled and spat out at its wings to damage it, or swallow it for the Bomb ability.

At the beginning of the second phase, the boss becomes HR-E, shifting to a form similar to that of Heavy Lobster. HR-E chases Kirby along the platform, firing rockets and snapping at Kirby with its pincers. Kirby can easily defeat this phase by repeating the pattern of inhaling missiles and spitting them back out at HR-E's black body. If after around four minutes HR-E is not defeated, it will transform back to HR-H and new platforms will stop appearing, which in consequence will make Kirby fall into a bottomless pit.[1]

The fight may go much quicker if Kirby has a Copy Ability (i.e. Burning, Cutter, etc.) or a Power Combo.
