"A Battle of Friends and Bonds"[2] is the main boss battle theme of Kirby Star Allies. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]
Composition[edit]
"A Battle of Friends and Bonds" is a resolute theme in A minor and 4/4. It is derived from the intro/second section of "Twinkle☆Stars". The dramatic intro uses the rhythm of said sections, and a string accompaniment related to the general intonations begins. The main section begins with a build-up based on the initial phrase in the woodwinds. Then, strings plays a more complete version of the second section of "Twinkle☆Stars", ending the third time in a precipitous passage closer to the second section of "Green Greens". A variation of this repeats with brass instrumentation, and a final rapid and dramatic fanfare, repeating several times insead of "Green Greens". The track then loops.
The more complete variant of the theme, "A Battle of Friends and Bonds 2", picks up from the end of the third section of the original. A transitional passage builds up tension and seems to prepare a modulation. The second section of "Green Greens" plays again with diminished harmonies. It becomes tonally unstable, but eventually returns to A minor again. The intro motif from "Twinkle☆Stars" comes with a strong pitched percussive basis. The string accompaniment from earlier in the theme sees an extension, and the track then loops from the first section of "A Battle of Friends and Bonds".
