A Dive Attack[1] refers to the ability to attack an enemy by falling onto them from a sufficient distance.
Debuting in Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby assumes a headlong falling position once he has fallen (while not puffed up) for long enough. Once in this position, he can then harm an enemy without taking damage himself if he lands on it, assuming that enemy is not invulnerable. This can also be used to nullify damage from certain projectiles, such as Waddle Doo's Beam attack.
This move can be performed in nearly every main series Kirby game, though it has grown gradually less effective over the series timeline. Starting in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Kirby can manually activate a Dive Attack by initiating a Quick Fall.

If I fly high enough, I can dive onto an enemy to defeat it and I won't even get hurt![1]
Trivia
- In the Super Smash Bros. series, Kirby's free-falling animation (which is rarely seen) resembles the dive attack position. However, it cannot do damage in these games.
