Fatal Blooms in Moonlight

Fatal Blooms in Moonlight (also known as Moonstruck Blossom[1]) is a musical piece composed by Hirokazu Ando which first appeared in Kirby: Triple Deluxe to serve as the theme of the first battle with Queen Sectonia's second form and Soul of Sectonia.
Composition
"Fatal Blooms in Moonlight" is a remix of sorts of "Bouncing Boss Battle", the regular boss battle theme in Triple Deluxe, which is in turn based on the leitmotif of Floral Fields' second section. However, it is much slower-placed and includes more elegant instrumentation. It still features electronic instruments along with brass and synths, but also includes a female vocal as its lead instrument. According to director Shinya Kumazaki:
“ | One track I particularly liked was the music for the big showdown, 'Fatal Blooms in Moonlight'. As the title suggests, we were going for a sense of a bewitching feminine beauty illuminated by the moon. In the music for other boss battles in the series, we've been trying to make it sound harsh and scary. But this song focused much more on beauty. When I was scripting the game, I listened to this song over and over, and channeled that sense of frustrated dreams which your foes experience. The female voice is an important element in this track, and the screams and laughter leave a deep impression during the boss battle. The actress who was responsible for the female voice on this track also did Kirby's voice. [...] This track plays at the game's finale and contains a lot of ideas and themes. I hope that everyone plays to the end of the game and gets to experience the way the music and action combine. |
