Cake Rolls is one of the eight Race stages in Kirby's Dream Buffet. It is available at the start, and has the Kirbys racing on long winding narrow paths connecting isolated circular platforms made of cake rolls in both rolled and unrolled states.

Overview[edit]

This stage is fairly straightforward, though it features lots of split and narrow paths connecting larger circular platforms, with lots of opportunities to fall off the course and lose time to hover back on. Many of the winding paths have Dash Panels on them, which the Kirbys can use to gain significant speed. There are also numerous pools of chocolate drizzle along the way and side paths to reach strawberry piles or mission fruit. As expected from the name, the stage is made largely of cake rolls, though it also features chocolate, whipped cream, hard candies, cookies, wafer rolls, pretzels, and cutlery as stage elements.

Variants of this stage differ in the particulars, but they all follow the same basic structure and have the following sections in the following order:

  • A starting area consisting of connected circular platforms followed by a wavy path leading to the first Crumbling Cookie Wall.
  • A series of bridges and platforms making several split paths which reconvene at the second crumbling wall.
  • Another split path, with one being much narrower but covered in strawberries.
  • One last split or singular path with Dash Panels on it leading to a platform just ahead of the Strawberry Mountains at the end.

Variant details[edit]

The following are noteworthy details for each variant of this stage that cause them to differ from one-another. Note that each variant is named after the color of the background:

Red variant
This version features red, yellow, and green cake rolls, along with multicolored candies.
  • The first area features three circular platforms connected by thin bridges leaning left and back, followed by a split wavy path with Dash Panels leading to the first crumbling wall.
  • The next area is a split figure-8-like path, with the greater amount of strawberries on the right side for both splits, guarded by a Shotzo near the start, before reaching the second crumbling wall.
  • The following split has a much narrower path on the right with lots of strawberries on it, which is guarded at the front and the back by a Gordo. After the path reconverges, there is one last split making three paths: two on the left and right with Dash Panels on them which reconvene at the end of the stage, and a third in the middle which features a narrow spiral path leading up to a cannon that can shoot Kirby to the end of the stage.

Yellow variant
This version features primarily yellow and green cake rolls, and also features green and yellow chocolates and cookies.
  • The first area features three circular platforms connected by thin bridges leaning right and back, followed by a split wavy path with Dash Panels leading to the first crumbling wall.
  • The next area features two distinct areas where the tracks feature two distinct offshoot paths which have extra strawberries on them, both located on the left side of the track, as the whole track forms a somewhat sinusoidal path towards the cookie wall.
  • The following split has a much narrower path on the left with lots of strawberries on it, which is guarded at the front by a Gordo. After the path reconverges, there is one last split making two paths with Dash Panels on them which reconvene at the end of the stage.
