Large enemy

A large enemy is any standard inhalable enemy in the Kirby series which requires more than an instant to inhale (regardless of whether or not they are actually large). Enemies of this nature are typically larger in size than other foes, and are usually bigger variants of common enemies, examples including Big Waddle Dee as an analogue to Waddle Dee and Giant Rocky compared to Rocky. Large enemies are typically larger versions of smaller and more common foes, but not all of them have this sort of relationship.

Distinctions

As mentioned, the only defining characteristic of a large enemy is how long it takes to begin inhaling said enemy. Though other characteristics such as a larger than usual size, higher health, or greater power are often included, these are not necessarily present features. Given that the ability to inhale these enemies is also a requirement, extra large enemies which cannot be inhaled are omitted from this definition. Additionally, large enemies are not to be confused with Bosses or Mid-Bosses, as these have unique characteristics and the latter typically cannot be inhaled at all unless defeated first. Thirdly, large enemies should not be confused with enemies that serve as stage hazards such as Barbar or Flotzo Borg, despite the considerable size of these foes. Finally, enemies that are defeated using Hypernova are also omitted from this category.

In the extra modes of several Kirby games, enemies can appear larger (or smaller) than usual. Despite these size changes, their properties remain the same, so the larger ones do not count as large enemies by this definition.

One other notable example of enemies which take some time to inhale are the Meta-Knights, who first appeared in Kirby's Adventure. However, since these guys are generally classified as Mid-Bosses rather than as standard enemies, they are omitted from this list.

Appearances

Large enemies first appeared in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, with prior titles having all inhalable enemies done so at the same rate. In this game and most which followed, Kirby has to initiate a Super Inhale to eat them. Since then, distinctly large enemies have appeared in the following titles:
