"Deus Ex Machina at a Young Age" is one of many Morpho Knight themes introduced in Kirby Star Allies, corresponding to Susie's battle with the fluttering fiend. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando, and features all four of the themes he composed for the battle with Star Dream in Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Composition

The theme opens with the "Bright Spinning Planet" portion of "Vagrant Counting Song of Retrospection" from the intro, quickly growing in intensity and almost immediately doubling in speed. The part based on "Haltmann Works Co. HQ" plays twice, followed by an abrupt switch to "Milky Way Wishes: Shooting" with traces of distinct instrumentation unique to this remix just barely audible for a few beats. After only a few measures, the song once again makes a sudden shift back into "Haltmann Works Co. HQ", akin to a similar movement during the fight with Star Dream Soul OS.

The entire "Haltmann Works Co. HQ" part of this song plays out, and while the last note is held, the motif shared between "VS. Star Dream" and "Fatal Error" plays. This takes over entirely, through a third rendition of "Haltmann Works Co. HQ" and on into the double "Kirby's Triumphant Return" portion of "Havoc Aboard the Halberd", also taken from "VS. Star Dream". It briefly returns to the motif shared with "Fatal Error" before returning to "The Noble Haltmann" and "Kirby's Triumphant Return", this time in its original form and resolving into the second section of "Green Greens". "Milky Way Wishes: Shooting" returns with the double-time "Bright Spinning Planet" of the Vagrant Counting Song, and then the track loops back into the first "Haltmann Works Co. HQ" of the Vagrant Counting Song.

Game appearances

Kirby Star Allies

"Deus Ex Machina at a Young Age" is heard when P1 fights Morpho Knight as Susie in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! and Soul Melter (EX) of The Ultimate Choice. This medley is named 幼き日に視たデウス・エクス・マキナ (Deus Ex Machina at a Young Age) in Kirby Star Allies: The Original Soundtrack. Like the component themes, it is also arranged by Hirokazu Ando and can be found as Track 183 in the Star Allies Jukebox as of Version 4.0.0.

Super Kirby Clash

A remix of "Deus Ex Machina at a Young Age" plays during the Super Party Quest against Pres. Parallel Susie. Like many remixes from this game, it features additional percussion to accentuate the theme even more.
