A String Platform from Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

A String Platform (Sometimes called just String or a Rope Platform) is an object in the Kirby series. It consists of a platform hanging from a string or rope, which can be cut loose using an appropriate attack, such as those from the Sword or Cutter Copy Abilities. Doing so will cause the platform to fall, which will have various consequences depending on what type of platform the string was holding, and what may have been laying on top of the platform at the time.

Appearances and Function

String platforms first appeared in Kirby Super Star, and were used mainly to block certain passages to Kirby unless he had the appropriate ability. Starting with Kirby's Return to Dream Land, more applications were applied to these objects, including placing enemies and items on the platforms hanging over Voids, making it either a good or bad idea to cut these strings. In addition, string platforms could also be made larger and heavier, making them a crushing hazard if Kirby is standing underneath them.

In Kirby: Planet Robobot, a heavier version of this object exists, known as a Chain Platform. These can only be cut using the various cutting attacks of the Robobot Armor, and are directly analogous to the smaller string varieties that Kirby himself can cut.

In Kirby Star Allies, there is a special variety of chain that can hold up platforms of all types. This continuously burning chain can be cut by any move that can cut string platforms regularly, but only if those moves are infused with the Bluster, Blizzard, or Splash Power Effects.
