"Game Over"[1] is a recurring jingle from Kirby's Adventure and its remake that plays when Kirby runs out of lives and gets a Game Over. This jingle appears in many Kirby games of the 2000s specifically. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.
Composition
"Game Over" is a short and lighthearted jingle in E-flat major and 2/4. It consists of a chromatically rising bass on a strong beat and chords on an offbeat alternating with increasing frequency, leading through a perfect cadence that ends with descending inversions of the tonic.
Game appearances
Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
In Kirby's Adventure and its remake, the jingle plays when getting a Game Over in Story Mode, Extra Mode and V.S. BOSS!/Boss Endurance. It appears as track 11 and 43, respectively, in the games' Sound Tests.
Kirby's Avalanche
In Kirby's Avalanche, a significantly slower arrangement of the theme plays during the first half of the Game Over screen. It is track 15 in the game's Sound Test.
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
In Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, a slightly rearranged version of the Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land variant plays when getting a Game Over in the Boss Endurance, the only game mode with such a screen. It appears as track 38 in the Sound Player.
Kirby: Canvas Curse
In Kirby: Canvas Curse, a heavily electronic arrangement of the jingle reprises its function as the Game Over theme, appearing as track 33 in the Sound Test. Additionally, the version from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land (here simply titled "Classic Song 2-23") plays when the Old School setting is turned on, and can be found as track 67.
Kirby: Squeak Squad
In Kirby: Squeak Squad, a remix of "Game Over" fully reprises its role from Kirby's Adventure. It can be found as track 34 in the game's Sound Room.
Other appearances
The original version of the track was included in the Kirby's Adventure soundtrack and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror Sound Plus.
