"Shiver Star"[derived from Japanese] is a theme from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It plays primarily in the level of the same name, and has so far only been remixed once in Kirby: Canvas Curse.

Composition[edit]

The otherworldly frozen land.

"Shiver Star" runs at a tempo of around 145 beats per minute. It can be described as an upbeat and cheery song, characterized by short, repeated chord stabs that support longer, sustained notes in the melody. It has a simple structure consisting of two sections that switch back and forth. In the first section, which is set in the key of F major, instruments such as horns, glockenspiel, pan flute, and sleigh bells are used to create a wintery feeling. The second section shifts to the key of A major and primarily uses strings with a more sentimental melody, while also removing the sleigh bells and adding tubular bells. The theme runs for about 80 seconds before looping.

"Snowball Scuffle" from Kirby's Return to Dream Land is very similar to "Shiver Star" in its composition, which is fitting, as both themes play in snowy levels.

Game appearances[edit]

This song first originated from this game. It plays for the entirety of the first and third stages of Shiver Star, and the very beginning of the second and fourth stages.
