Change name to "Mint Leaf Shooting"

I saw that recently a proposal was made that changed the naming policy about Japanese names. This describes that adapted terms should be used whenever possible on Japanese names, and thus making them derived from Japanese. This policy did influence some pages, like:

• Four-Headed Guardian Angel: Landia (which was "4-Headed Guardian Angel: Landia")
• Air Ride: Sky Sands (Air Ride: Sandoola)
• True Arena Showdown (True Colosseum Battle)
• Magolor, the Distant Traveler (Mahoroa, the Distant Traveler)

This theme have given just a Japanese name in two albums which is, indeed, "Sweet Potato Shooting".
The thing is that "Sweet Potato" is the Japanese name of the over-powered and all loved Mint Leaf.
So, following the new policy, and the previous examples, I think that the ideal move would be to move this page to "Mint Leaf Shooting". What do you think? -Zolerian (talk | contribs) 23:25, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

I have an alternate proposal, to just change it to "Shooting". I didn't realize when I moved this page, but "Shooting" is an official name (from Kirby Air Ride). It also avoids the problem of having to choose between Mint Leaf or Sweet Potato. The only problem would be a redirect clash with Starship, but a disambig would probably fix that up; Shooting (theme). That'd be my preference, anyway. StarPunch (talk) 23:43, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

I have a small inconvenience with doing this, as there are various names of themes in Kirby Air Ride's Sound Test that aren't well aged. For example: Spring Breeze, The Arena, Revenge of Meta Knight 1, 2, Dream Land and Versus King Dedede have been renamed in the future as Green Greens, Arena Showdown, Havoc Aboard the Halberd, Boarding the Halberd, The Fountain of Dreams and King Dedede's Theme respectively, so I wouldn't say that Air Ride's names of themes are the "definitive" name of said themes.

However, it is true that the naming policy states that official English names have a priority, plus the fact that the Japanese Sound Test of Air Ride also calls that theme "Sweet Potato Shooting" in line with the name given in the albums, which means that, if those albums were translated, they probably have called that theme Shooting too. So, as you said, Shooting is the official translation of Sweet Potato Shooting. And even if it weren't, the naming policy is there.

Basically there are more arguments to use Air Ride's name than not to, so I agree on using it. Thanks for giving that option.

Still, if Shooting is chosen, I wonder if the translation that are given on the pages of those two albums should be changed to Mint Leaf Shooting or not. I'd say that they should. -Zolerian (talk | contribs) 01:15, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

In that case, we'd leave the direct translation as "Sweet Potato Shooting", same as the translation on the Mint Leaf page. We can still make a note that the Sweet Potato is the Japanese version of the Mint Leaf. StarPunch (talk) 00:12, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Well, there are some Japanese exclusive OSTs pages that lists an official English names of themes given in other sources, even if they aren't the same as the Japanese ones. See for example themes 5 and 12 of this, 1 and 4 of this and 4 of this. With those examples, I understand that the translation on these pages should be directly "Shooting" with a note saying something like "Literally translates to 'Sweet Potato Shooting'. English name given on Kirby Air Ride". I think that there should be a policy about that, though I'm not aware of it if that is the case. -Zolerian (talk | contribs) 05:36, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Bump. The two people that talked here agree that this should be moved to "Shooting" because it is an official translation of the Japanese name, and because the naming policy states that official English names should be preferred over Japanese ones, which "Shooting" accomplishes.
