Stage 11 of Kirby's Block Ball is the final of eleven stages in the game, featured as the castle in the middle of the map. This stage can only be accessed if the Border Line score of each prior stage is met. This stage features seven rounds and any one of the four Copy Abilities in the form of the Ability Changer (as well as Rocky), and hosts King Dedede as its boss. There is no Border Line score for this stage, although the default high score is 235000 points.

Intro cut-scene

A portion of the intro cut-scene, featuring King Dedede.

After the stage is selected, a brief cut-scene plays which reveals King Dedede inside a barrier of Indestructible Blocks. Kirby tries several times to bust through the blocks as the king mocks him by miming. Kirby then hits a Kookler on the right hand side and uses a Crash item to remove the barrier to King Dedede, who becomes paralyzed with fear, and then tries to run away. Kirby crashes into him and knocks him down, then celebrates.

Overview

Stage 11 consists of six Block Areas and a Boss Area against King Dedede. Unlike other stages, there is no Target-Shooting Area, and Star Blocks are instead scattered throughout different Block Areas. There are also no Warp Stars which can be used to access Sub-Games. These rooms are lain out as follows:

Round Description
File:Block Ball Stage 11-1.jpg
Round 11-1
The first area is a solid line of blocks which can only be bypassed from the left, as the formation is lined with several Indestructible Blocks forming a series of pockets. A Bouncy and a Blocky are on watch in this stage, with the former granting an Ability Changer.

The round is cleared once all White and Gray blocks are removed.

Round 11-2
The second area features a thick line of small blocks with a couple Indestructible Blocks interspersed, with an additional line of blocks guarding the upper paddle. A number of Score Blocks can be uncovered in seemingly blank areas. Two Boolers and a Propeller can be found in the area as well, with the Propeller dropping an Ability Swap and the Boolers dropping Block Flip items.

The round is cleared once all White and Gray blocks are removed.

Round 11-3
The third area has spikes and paddles on all sides with a fortified block formation in the middle. The corners of this formation are completely indestructible, even when the Crash item is used after defeating Captain Stitch residing in the center. Two UFOs can be found along the sides which drop Block Flip items. A Star Block can also be found above Captain Stitch.

The round is cleared once all White and Gray blocks are removed.

Round 11-4
The fourth area features a complex series of block formations made of hardy blocks of various types. Paddles and spikes occupy all sides except the right side. A Rocky and Bounder can be found here, and the Bounder drops a Crash item upon defeat. Two more Star Blocks can be found in the formation on the right.

The round is cleared once all White, Gray, and Power blocks are removed.

File:Block Ball Stage 11-5.jpg
Round 11-5
The fifth area features a robust barrier which is partially enveloped by the walls on the left and right sides. Paddles and spikes occupy the remaining sides. Two Boolers occupy the top area while a Propeller occupies the bottom. Six more Star Blocks can be found here.

The round is cleared once all White, Gray, and Power blocks are removed.

Round 11-6
The sixth area features a deeply entrenched block formation with a Warp Star occupying the center of it. The remaining 20 Star Blocks can be found inside the formation as well. A Propeller and Kookler are found here, which can help to break the outer wall of the barricade.

The round is cleared when Kirby touches the Warp Star.

Round 11-7 (boss)
In the last area, Kirby must contend with King Dedede, who has twice as much Stamina as other bosses, at 24 hit points. King Dedede has a number of different methods of attack, which he uses at different intervals of remaining health. King Dedede starts by pulling out and tossing bombs at the paddles to shrink them. Further in, he puffs up and starts hovering around the area. While doing this, he will eat Kirby if he approaches from below and then spit him out again. In the final phase, King Dedede jumps from place to place, and uses a rocket launcher to shoot missiles at the paddles to shrink them.

Once King Dedede is defeated, he is sent screaming out of the castle, and the end cut-scene begins. Kirby uses the Sparkling Stars to destroy King Dedede's castle and uncover the fountain that had been smothered beneath it. From here, the credits roll, and the game is complete.

Trivia

  • As in Kirby's Pinball Land, King Dedede does not have his hammer in his fight.
  • Rounds 4, 5, and 6 contain block formations which form the numbers 3, 2, and 1 respectively. This can be seen as a countdown to the final boss encounter in round 7.
  • This is the only stage in the game which utilizes border tiles in the body of the boards as obstacles.
