The Game Boy is an 8-bit portable handheld console by Nintendo, and originally released in Japan on April 21, 1989, in North America on July 31, 1989, and in Europe on September 28, 1990. The handheld would be discontinued in 2003. It would be succeeded by the Game Boy Color. Five Kirby games were released for the Game Boy, with one of those games being the first game in the series.
