"Quilty Square", named "Theme from Quilty Square" in the British English version, is a theme from Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn that plays in the level with the same name. This track can be unlocked by collecting it in Temper Temple. It was composed by Tomoya Tomita.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Quilty Square" is a somewhat tranquil piece in F major and 4/4. It features lead harpsichord rather than piano, a trait only shared with "Dark Manor", as well as a xylophone. It begins with an intro that sets the key and ends in a descending scale passage. The melody is derived from "Flower Fields", albeit omitting the repeating triad and with a syncopated descent. It plays three times and ends in a descending resolution, that replays in the higher registers. This repeats with a different ending. The following section features a higher-pitched melody revolving around an F, played by a soft brass instrument twice. Nearing the end of the second time, a B natural contributes to the dominant that builds up for a return to the original key and intro segment. From here, the track loops.
