This article is about the theme music for Grass Land in Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. For other uses of "Grass Land", see Grass Land.

"Grass Land", named "Theme from Grass Land" in the British English version, is the piece that plays in the level with the same name in Kirby's Epic Yarn and its remake.

Composition[edit]

"Grass Land" bears many similarities with "Big-Bean Vine". They both play in E major, and the harmonies of "Big-Bean Vine" correspond to those in "Grass Land". This is further accentuated by the former's "Weird Woods" version, which uses "Grass Land"'s descending melodic phrases within "Big-Bean Vine"'s structure.

In its main appearance, "Grass Land" is played in E major by a synthesizer and accoustic guitar in 4/4. It begins with a simple syncopated bassline. The peaceful melody begins with an upbeat, rising up a major sixth in dotted rhythm and making a descent to a C sharp, and then repeats. In the second section, strings join with a smooth legato and alterations accentuating the modulations, playing a descending sequence twice, with an additional higher-pitched layer for the second time. The melody rises and revolves around dominant harmonies, as if asking a question. After this short phrase plays again, it resolves to the tonic, and the track loops.

"Quilty Court" plays in D major, and is performed by guitars in the style of bossa nova. Its accompaniment consists of a repeated syncopated subdominant chord, giving a feeling of absence of movement, as well as a gentle rattle. The melody is based on the final phrase of "Grass Land".
