Gobbler is a Boss that only appears in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror so far. He guards the Mirror Shard of Olive Ocean and is fought again in Boss Endurance.
Gobbler is a blue shark with a red and white lifebelt attached to him. There appears to be a star-shaped pattern with a lighter shade of blue on the tip of his snout. His teeth are big in relation to his size, hence the name. What would be his tail is instead a propeller which keeps his afloat underwater.
Boss Battle
Gobbler fights an underwater battle against Kirby. The room is mostly made up of water, with three small platforms above it.
His attacks including summoning mini sharks (7 HP each but becomes 1 HP when above water), biting or charging into Kirby underwater, and jumping out of water to attack Kirby on the platform.
Since this is a mostly underwater battle, Kirby must use his water gun technique or a select few Copy Abilities that can attack underwater.
Gobbler has 60 HP and takes additional damage from two weaknesses:
- Electric: +2 damage from Beam, Spark, and 'Chain Beam' from U.F.O. (though practically only U.F.O. can fight underwater among these Electric abilities)
- Slash: +2 damage from Cutter, Cupid, Sword, and Master (though practically only Sword and Master can fight underwater among these slash abilities)
Notably, Gobbler can be easily defeated by Stone (or the same attack from Smash). The stone will get slowed down when sinking in water, resulting in a continuous hitbox on Gobbler. Stone does 10 damage per hit which can defeat Gobbler in 6 hits.
Other Apperances
According to the booklet from Kirby's Dream Collection, Gobbler was originally titled "Great Jaws" in early development of Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.
Gobbler makes a cameo appearance as a Keychain in Kirby: Triple Deluxe as well as a Sticker in Kirby: Planet Robobot.
