VS. Marx is the boss battle theme of Marx, first appearing in Kirby Super Star.
This theme is notable for its unusual time signature:
- Intro: 2 bars of 6/8
- Section 1 (twice): 1 bar of 7/8, 1 of 6/8, 1 of 9/8, 1 of 6/8, 2 of 5/8, 2 of 6/8
- Section 2: 2 bars of 6/8, 2 of 5/8, 2 of 6/8
- Section 3: 4 bars of 5/8 (3rd one has an additional 1/8), 4 of 6/8
Notable Appearances
Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra
The original version of VS. Marx from Kirby Super Star is titled Meddlesome Marx (Track #10) in Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition Compilation Soundtrack.
In Kirby Super Star Ultra, VS. Marx is remixed with Nintendo DS sound chip, like the other remixed Kirby Super Star soundtracks.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4
VS. Marx is rearranged by Yasunori Mitsuda in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's an unlockable music theme on the Halberd stage.
This remix plays Section 3 twice which features electric guitar and drums. Then, it incorporates the end theme of Milky Way Wishes after Section 3.
In Super Smash Bros. 4, the same remix reappears as an unlockable music theme on the Halberd stage.

During Morpho Knight fight in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! and The Ultimate Choice, if 1P is Marx, Morpho Knight's theme will be replaced by a new orchestral remix of VS. Marx.
This remix is arranged by the original composer Jun Ishikawa. It can be found as Music 180 in Kirby Star Allies Sound Room as of Version 2.0.0.
