Kirby is pleased to discover the ripe Apricot Atrium.

Apricot Atrium is the second level of New Challenge Stages. It contains four stages and a dummy practice room. It is preceded by Happiness Hall and followed by Last Land.

Kirby makes use of the Fighter, Whip and Wing Copy Abilities in this level. He can also use those abilities to race against Magolor in the fourth stage.

Stages

The following stages can be found in Apricot Atrium:

Whip Challenge

This stage is unlocked when Kirby first enters the level. Kirby uses the Whip ability for this stage, and has 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete the course.

Like in the Whip Challenge Stage form Kirby's Return to Dream Land, this challenge requires Kirby to make good use of the Whip's ability to grab coins and hit foes through walls. There are also several places where the Whip Tornado move will come in handy to clear out large sections of foes and grab coins at the same time. This stage makes liberal use of moving parts and conveyer belts, and there are several places where Kirby can get crushed.

The stage consists of two main chambers, and two side-chambers. The window of time for Platinum is more than 55 seconds left. Completing this stage contributes to unlocking the second Magolor Race.

Scoring

  • Bronze - 100 points
  • Silver - 14840 points
  • Gold - 24300 points
  • Platinum - 29050 points

Fighter Combat Chamber

This stage is unlocked when Kirby first enters the level. Kirby uses the Fighter ability for this stage, and has 3 minutes to complete the course.

This stage will challenge Kirby's ability to defeat foes quickly. The stage is divided into several smaller rooms, where Kirby has to defeat a number of enemies that appear before he is allowed to progress. Some enemies will leave the arena of their own accord (including the immensely valuable Gold Waddle Dee), which will mean that Kirby cannot gain points from them, so speed is of the essence to master this challenge. Near the end, Kirby will have to battle Bonkers without the benefit of knowing how much Vitality the Mid-Boss has left during the fight.

The stage consists of one long chamber, though it is divided into segments that must be unlocked in sequence. The window of time for Platinum is more than 60 seconds left. Completing this stage contributes to unlocking the second Magolor Race.

Scoring

  • Bronze - 100 points
  • Silver - 15640 points
  • Gold - 22550 points
  • Platinum - 27550 points

Wing Challenge

This stage is unlocked when Kirby first enters the level. Kirby uses the Wing ability for this stage, and has 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete the course.

Unlike the Return to Dream Land version, this Wing Challenge focuses more on precise movement using the Condor Dive and Combo Bomb techniques. Timing is also critical when flying past the searing gears, and when initiating the dives. If Kirby intends to master this course, he should never find himself using the Feather Gun, as it is far too slow for this challenge.

The stage consists of two main chambers, and two side-chambers. The window of time for Platinum is more than 70 seconds left. Completing this stage contributes to unlocking the second Magolor Race.

Scoring

  • Bronze - 100 points
  • Silver - 15640 points
  • Gold - 24000 points
  • Platinum - 29500 points

This stage is unlocked when Kirby completes all three prior challenges. Kirby can choose between the Fighter, Whip, or Wing abilities for this stage, and has to beat Magolor to the finish line.

Unlike the first race, this one bends back, then forward again. Along the way, Magolor will be keen to conjure up several flying enemies. In addition, he will spawn many Gordos, Coldtzos and Volttzos which Kirby would do well to avoid. To master this course, Kirby will need to memorize where the enemies appear.

The stage consists of one long unbroken chamber. The window of time for Platinum is under 54 seconds. Completing this stage with at least one ability unlocks the next level, Last Land.

Scoring

  • Bronze - 100 points
  • Silver - 14300 points
  • Gold - 21600 points
  • Platinum - 25600 points
