In its current form, this template automatically sorts any page it appears on into Category:Pages needing renaming. However, I could set it up so that it puts any pages with something entered in the first parameter into another category, so that it would be easier to find those that have a new name suggested, and separate them from those that don't. Any opinions on this? Moydow 17:51, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think it would be really needed, as not many pages would need to be moved at a time. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 18:25, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Some category is definitely needed though so people (admins in particular) know what pages may need to be moved; the template doesn't make much sense if it doesn't categorise the pages. As for the splitting up/name thing, why would one even put up the template without suggesting a name? I would think that if someone believes a page should be moved, they would also have an idea where or they would not suggest a move...--Vellidragon 18:35, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- It may seem useless now, but having it for later is always good. One thing I was wanting to do was turn the Community Portal page into a place where articles needing discussion on being moved/split/merged, etc can be linked to. It'll probably have permanent links to the categories for those articles as well. If I'm correct, the code you propose Moydow, will categorize by target pages, and the page to be moved separately, which would make sense to me. I've thought of trying to do that for the Merge template before. So I think the system you come up with would have some value to other similar templates here and at the NIWA sites.

New parameter?[edit]
Currently, this template has one parameter, for a suggested title. Should it have a second parameter for reason, so that we can put a reason in the template without making it look like part of the suggested title? Like this:
