Thanks for helping out a bit. I'm blazing through the patrol log so I can get the StrategyWiki and WiKirby thing set up, make the site announcement and all that jazz.

Ah that reminds me, I have the pagelist set to Mainpage on the UserProud template. When I first made it at ZW, it was functioning as though we were naming other User pages. Pagelist is finicky like that, it detects what namespace it's being used in and plugs that info into it's list. Let me know if you want a template proud template, or feel free to create one. I'm not sure if StrategyWiki would like userboxes like that or if they have them, but I'm fine with a similar template being ported over there. This, might help with using pagelist in the merge template. My only contributions to that template were getting pagelist on it and recommending the image to ZW's resident transparenter.Axiomist (talk) 05:42, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
I added an optional parameter to the User Proud template, to let users choose which namespace the pages are in. I didn't add it to the actual template yet, it's in my sandbox. I don't think there's any similar templates on StrategyWiki, most people just list out guides they've worked on, or manipulate the basic userbox templates in some way. Later, I'll look at that Merge template and see if I can implement it here. Moydow 16:07, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
I'll go ahead with those changes to the User Proud template, if you've no objection. It seems the merge template's usage of PageList on ZW is identical to what I had planned. :/ I was thinking of something similar for the Split template, to list out and link to potential pages to split into. Also, for the Merge from and Merge to templates, I had an idea; instead of putting every page with one of the three Merge templates into one category, instead have a category associated with each template. The main Merge category for the Merge template, and subcategories for the Merge from and Merge to templates. Would that make the process confusing, or otherwise? Moydow 23:54, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Sounds like a perfectly laid out plan to me. Axiomist (talk) 21:51, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
User Proud's been changed. For now, I have the code for the merge templates stored here. They just need images before I can finish with them. I'll probably get the Split template done as well, and then, if you don't mind, I'd like to import the PageList template over to Wars Wiki for use in similar templates there. Moydow 23:52, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Cool beans. Feel free to bring it to Wars Wiki, or any wiki for that matter. I didn't create pagelist, I just found it and liked it on Wikipedia. Given the bizarre source views of the template, you may want to hurry and make use of it such as with mainlist, userproud or something quickly to save it from deletion. My experience, from that very template, at ZW I had to argue with another admin for over an hour on how useful it was. Some people with delete powers just love to delete what they don't understand. Axiomist (talk) 03:46, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I took your advice, and made the template before uploading Pagelist, only to find... it doesn't work. It seems their version of MediaWiki, 1.13, may be incompatible with it. I noticed the same thing when I tried to make a Doc template there. Moydow 02:45, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Do you think the problem could be that some extension, parser hook/function is needed? I talk to JoJo from time to time, and if we knew what to add, I could pass the word to her. Her online time is usually brief, so I don't think she'll be able to upgrade to the latest MW anytime soon. Extensions are quick tho, usually a 2 minute FTP addition. Axiomist (talk) 03:01, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
I see now. Comparing version pages, a couple of parser function hooks appear to be missing. For the Pagelist template, PAGENAME and NAMESPACE are required. Moydow 03:10, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that makes perfect sense. If I see her on msn messenger, I'll let her know. If you want to recommend it at the wars forum, there's a better chance she'll see it sooner. Axiomist (talk) 03:16, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
