Vegetable Valley - Stage 5 is the fifth stage of Vegetable Valley, in Kirby's Adventure and its remake, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. This stage pits Kirby against Whispy Woods, whom he must defeat to obtain the first piece of the Star Rod and advance to the next level; Ice Cream Island.

Overview

The stage begins on a series of wooden platforms dispersed between a set of trees acting as walls. Kirby will need to maneuver down past these platforms and fall to the ground below. From there, he encounters Whispy Woods and the battle begins.

In this incarnation, Whispy has only two different ways to attack Kirby. The old tree can either shoot a series of Air Bullets from his mouth, or drop Apples (and sometimes Gordos) from his canopy. If Kirby has no Copy Ability, he can counter-attack by inhaling the apples and then spitting them at Whispy to do him harm. Whispy does not move at all during the fight, and is a rather large target, making him fairly easy to defeat.

Once defeated, Whispy ceases hostilities and sits with a tear in his eye as he relinquishes the first piece of the Star Rod. Once collected, Kirby does his victory dance, and then automatically moves on to Ice Cream Island's stage hub.
