Fatty Puffer

|
Fatty Puffer is a boss that debuted in [[Kirby's Return to Dream Land|Template:KRDL KAW]]. He, as his name implies, is a fat pufferfish. He bears a regal impression about him, and his attacks are characterized by using his girth to perform body slams and rolling attacks. He is the boss of Onion Ocean and guards the Lor Starcutter's Left Wing.
Appearance
Fatty Puffer's headdress consists of coral, which he uses to hide and ambush Kirby when he enters the room, much in the same way that Emperor Bulblax from the Pikmin games would. His body is largely a blob that features purple scaly skin with a white belly, topped by a fishy face. His fins are very small, and do not factor into the battle at all.
At first, he isn't that large, but once his health is halfway depleted, he puffs up to an impressive size, like Whispy Woods, and Mr. Dooter do.
In Extra Mode, he is characterized with a red and gold color scheme. His headdress is also much fancier, resembling a crown.
Attacks
The following lists all of Fatty Puffer's attacks in the Main Game of Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Attacks in italics are used in the second phase of the fight only.
*Attack names are conjectural.

In Extra Mode, Fatty Puffer's attacks are much more vicious and quick:
Attacks - Extra Mode | |
---|---|
Attack | Description |
Rollout EX | Fatty puffs up and forms a ball, then rolls forward. When hitting the wall, he then rolls up it, across the ceiling, and all the way back around before finally crashing into the wall to release stars. In the second phase, he may turn once reaching the first wall, and roll the other way to hit the other wall. He may also turn many times.
|
Body Slam EX | Fatty charges up, then performs a massive leap, hovers in the air for a moment, then pounds the ground, creating stars. The leap goes further than in the Main Game.
|
Fish Spit EX | Fatty spits out various fish and Blippers that flop about the stage. In the second phase, he will jump onto the ceiling before using this move.
|
Water Glob Spit EX | Fatty spits out globs of water, which can be swallowed for the Water Copy Ability. In the second phase, he will jump onto the ceiling before using this move.
|
Water Blast EX | Fatty charges up, then shoots out a huge continuous stream of water, covering the ground. He will then angle it to try and hit the ceiling as well.
|
Cave-In EX | Fatty stomps the ground repeatedly, causing stalactites to appear, then fall. These can be inhaled and spat back at Fatty. Stalactites fall faster and are greater in number than in the Main Game. He may also combine this move with a Rollout to devastating effect.
|
Ricochet EX | Fatty puffs up, then starts bouncing back and forth across the room. Much faster than in the Main Game.
|
Once his Stamina is depleted, Fatty Puffer's eyes white out. Then, he slumps over and explodes, yielding the Lor's Left Wing.
Trivia
- Pyribbit from Kirby: Triple Deluxe resembles Fatty Puffer in appearance. However, Fatty Puffer is purple and takes his design more from a fish. Pyribbit, on the other hand, resembles a frog.
- His Japanese name spells out Fatty Buffer instead for some reason. However, this may be due to the fact that B and P sound similar in Japanese.
- Fatty Puffer seems to be a reference to Fatty Whale from Kirby Super Star, except that it is a fish and not an aquatic mammal, and fights entirely on land.
