The Adventure Begins is a theme from Kirby's Return to Dream Land. This theme includes various of the main motifs of its game, and has been either remixed or brought back in other games.
CompositionEdit
"The Adventure Begins" is a fast and triumphant orchestral piece in F major and 4/4. It uses various motifs from its game of origin, as well as introducing its own. The track begins with a short dominant fanfare played by trumpets. The melody, played by a flute, features a pattern of a higher rising part alternating with a C at the bottom. It peaks at an E-flat belonging to the subdominant key but soon gracefully resolves in F major with the support of the strings. A piano response repeats the melody's initial phrase. The melody is repeated by a recorder as orchestra bells play a descending scale. The motif is picked up by low brass. The second section begins with a fast brass iteration of "Four Adventurers: Cookie Country" with "The Adventure Begins"' melody serving as a counterpoint. These two motifs peak at a grandiose descending passage, one that mirrors "Magolor, the Far-Flung Traveler". The two motifs continue interacting, with the intro of this track returning from a different beat. Suddenly, they transform into "Kirby's Triumphant Return" and end with another, now syncopated, fanfare.
The third section is largely similar to the first, albeit with strings in the lead, mainly a violin and mandolin respectively. The fourth section again reprises the second, with abundant use of the quiter mandolin and supporting recorder. However, rather than transitioning to "Kirby's Triumphant Return", the "Road to Victory" motif makes an appearance with the added church bells. As this ends triumphantly and proceeds to a calmer note, the track loops.
