On this night,
Illuminated by the moonlight,
Leaving ripples on the water,1
A young woman grows abhorrent
Trembling,
While absorbed in reminiscence
An ephemeral song of love

This flowered figure
Those eyes of yours
An eternal dream
Heart dyed in darkness
Hands dyed in sin
"Why, oh why…? How can this be…?"
A dyeing dream2

No longer reached by anything
No longer hearing anything at all3
So then,
May you taste the four fruits of miracles,4
O sleeping flower5

English translation notes:[1]
1 is likely referring to the Japanese title of "Fatal Blooms in Moonlight", 狂花水月 kyōka suigetsu ("madness flower, water moon"), which is a play on the Japanese phrase "mirror flower, water moon", meaning a symbol of purity or illusion.
2 is meant to be "dyeing" as in the previous lines, "heart dyed in darkness" and "hands dyed in sin".
3 is in reference to Soul of Sectonia's pause screen description: "Taranza's final words and offering can no longer reach her ears." "A voice called out to help her, but it has since fallen silent."
In Japanese, the lines are more directly translated as: "Taranza's offerings and words no longer reach her." "There was a voice which called out to me, but now I no longer hear it."
4 is in reference to the four Miracle Fruits Soul of Sectonia consumes to aid her transformation.
5 refers to the recurring idea of Sectonia being put to eternal sleep, as seen in her pause screen descriptions.

Trivia

  • It is implied that Queen Sectonia is the singer.[2]
  • Stylistically, the lyrics feature many complex kanji and obscure words that are not commonly used in everyday speech, giving the song a grandiose and poetic tone.
  • The vocalist who performed this piece, Oriko Takahashi, was also the soprano for the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Main Theme.
