If it manages to bump into Kirby, it harms him; however, like most other enemies, it takes damage itself as well in the process. Straying too far from its initial position causes it to give up the chase and return to the spot it was originally found in.

Batty is a common type of enemy appearing in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad. It is a small, purple creature with pointed ears, perpetually closed eyes and a large mouth containing two long fangs. It also possesses two small feet, as well as a pair of red bat wings on its back, which it is able to flap very quickly.

Batties are found either hanging from the ceiling or fluttering in midair in various locations, primarily dwelling in dark places like caves and buildings, including Moonlight Mansion and Carrot Castle. Once Kirby approaches a Batty, it becomes active, leaving its waiting spot to fly after him, moving through walls and other obstacles as it does. If it manages to bump into Kirby, it harms him; however, like most other enemies, it takes damage itself as well in the process. Straying too far from its initial position causes it to give up the chase and return to the spot it was originally found in.

Although Batties have low health and can be defeated with any attack, their small size and swift movements can make it difficult to hit them. Inhaling and swallowing a Batty does not grant Kirby a Copy Ability.

Game appearances

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror

Batty made its first appearance in this title. It is commonly found in cave areas such as the tunnels in Cabbage Cavern, as well as inside structures such as the rooms in Moonlight Mansion. Aside from its occasionally tenacious chasing behaviTemplate:Or, it is not a particularly dangerous foe.

Kirby Squeak Squad

Batty returns in this title, and is largely unchanged from its appearance in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. It is once again found most commonly in tunnels and other enclosed spaces. It appears fairly commonly in stages around the mid-point of Kirby's journey, but drops off drastically in representation from Vocal Volcano onward.

When possessed by Ghost Kirby, Batty can be made to fly around freely or to perch on a ceiling. It cannot attack enemies without hurting itself, however.
