Landia is an ancient dragon and the protector of ancient artifacts on Halcandra; most notably the Lor Starcutter and the Master Crown, the latter of which he wears on his highest head. He consists of four separate dragons which can combine into a single hydra-like entity or split apart again depending on circumstances. In addition to this power, Landia can also breathe fire, conjure up harmful gusts of wind, and generate electric fields, though some of these powers may be drawn from the Master Crown rather than Landia's own innate ability. Aside from this, Landia's main attack strategy is to dive at his opponents, either as one or separated.

Landia is a boss that appears in Kirby's Return to Dream Land that resides in Halcandra and serves as the final boss in Dangerous Dinner. Landia appears as a four headed orange dragon, where the top head of the dragon carries the Master Crown, a legendary artifact of limitless power. Landia can also split himself into four separate dragons.
Introduced in Kirby's Return to Dream Land as the boss of Dangerous Dinner, Landia has since reappeared in several Kirby games, most notably in the Team Kirby Clash series, where he and variants of him are fought multiple times. Despite appearing so often as an opponent, Landia is described as a benevolent guardian angel and protector, who only fights Kirby and his allies due to possession or misunderstanding. Outside of the Kirby games, Landia has appeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Spirit.

Game Appearances
Physical appearance
Landia resembles a classic dragon, but with four heads with large eyes (whose color changes based on circumstance) and beak-like mouths. When combined into a single dragon, Landia only has one larger body with primarily red-orange coloration and a single large pair or wings. He also has no forelimbs, but sports a single long tail with a red and purple-striped frill on the end. The horns and spikes on Landia's heads differ based on the position of the head, with the lowermost head being the least-adorned, the top crown-bearing head having the longest horns, and the side heads having asymmetrical horn patterns which mirror each-other. Each of Landia's heads bears a dark star-shaped mark on the faces, and the body has a mane of white hair covering the upper chest.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land
When split into four separate dragons, each of Landia's heads get their own bodies with their own sets of wings. As separate dragons, Landia's horns are all simplified and made identical, and the feet and tails are also simpler and stubbier. Notably, after being defeated by Kirby and losing the Master Crown in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Landia never re-merges into a single dragon for the remainder of the game, which may suggest that his ability to merge into one was a power granted by the crown.

spoilers
Landia EX looks largely identical to his regular form, but bears a largely purple body color instead. Both this and his regular orange color are references to the Great Dragon's different colors in Kirby Super Star Ultra.
In the story of Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Magolor commands Kirby to go and defeat Landia, as Landia attacked the Lor Starcutter, Magolor's ship, as Magolor arrived at Halcandra, along with Kirby. Landia in the extra mode are changed into purple and looks like the later version of Spyro the Dragon (including new abilities are added). Upon Landia's defeat by Kirby, it is revealed that Magolor and Landia had a past conflict, which ended with Magolor fleeing to Planet Popstar, and only enlisted Kirby's help in repairing the Lor Starcutter to defeat Landia and help him obtain the Master Crown, which would give him the power to rule the universe. Landia, now consisting of four small dragons, then assists Kirby and accompanying friends, in chasing Magolor and the Lor Starcutter when Magolor enters Another Dimension to go and conquer Planet Popstar. Once Magolor and his mutation Magolor Soul are defeated, Landia, along with the now friendly Lor Starcutter, assists Kirby in returning to Dream Land.

In Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Landia is introduced as an antagonist when Magolor takes Kirby and his friends to Halcandra using the Lor Starcutter. Upon arriving in Halcandra's sky, Landia immediately attacks the Lor and shoots it down using fireballs. Using this incident, Magolor convinces Kirby and his friends to go and defeat Landia in his perch atop Halcandra's tallest volcano, at the end of the level Dangerous Dinner. Magolor has a fair amount to say about Landia, describing him as "that crazy old dragon" or "a truly fearsome foe. Super fearsome, even", and suggests that Landia was asleep for a long time, but only recently awoke and started causing havoc. In truth, Landia sees Magolor as a threat because Magolor stole the Lor Starcutter from him and was also trying to take the dragon's Master Crown. With Kirby's unwitting help, Magolor is ultimately able to take the crown from Landia after he is defeated and use it to transform into a powerful villain aiming to conquer the galaxy.

Landia is faced as the boss of Dangerous Dinner. During the first phase of the fight, it fights as the whole dragon. During the second phase, it splits up and attacks as the four smaller dragons.
In order to stop Magolor, Kirby and his friends team up with the dragon they had just defeated and chase after Magolor into Another Dimension. Landia gets Kirby and his friends past many obstacles and helps them defeat the Lor Starcutter (being puppeteered by Magolor). However, Kirby and his friends have to finish the job on their own after Landia gets knocked away by Magolor's energy attacks. Once Magolor is defeated and the crown destroyed, Landia rescues Kirby and his friends before they are engulfed by the shattering dimension around them and returned safely to Popstar. Landia then takes the recovered Lor Starcutter and returns to Halcandra with it.

The following lists all of Landia's attacks in the Main Game of Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Attacks in italics are used in the second phase of the fight only.

Landia is faced as the boss of Dangerous Dinner. During the first phase of the fight, he fights as the whole dragon. During the second phase, he splits up and attacks as the four smaller dragons, and the dragon wearing the crown takes more damage than the other three. They may recombine into their four-headed form during the second phase for certain attacks.

By defeating Landia in Story Mode, he will come to play at Merry Magoland, hovering just above the entrance to Checkerboard Chase. His likenesses in normal and EX forms also appear in the form of Dress-Up Masks, unlocked by defeating him in Story Mode and Extra Mode, respectively.

Landia appears as the penultimate (in normal form) and final (in EX form) boss of the Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash. His fights here are largely identical to his normal and EX fights in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, though he has significantly more health and tires out for a few seconds at the end of the "Formation Pass" attack. Once his EX form is defeated, the Sub-Game is complete.

{| class="wikitable" border="1" cellpadding="2" width="81%"
Landia is also represented by his emblem as a collectible sticker. The Landia Emblem sticker is randomly-obtained.

Landia
Landia reprises his role in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash—his attacks and role in the story undiminished from before, though with even more health in order to provide more of a challenge for Team Kirby.

Landia EX
In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Landia EX serves as the fifth Ordeal, and defeating him rolls the first credits sequence. In Super Kirby Clash, Landia EX serves as the seventh Story Quest Ordeal, and fights identically to his previous battle. He also appears in a Toughest-rank Party Quest.

Parallel Landia
Parallel Landia
Bosses from Another Dimension invade the Dream Kingdom after the credits roll for the first time in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, one of them being Parallel Landia, a black-colored counterpart to Landia who is much more powerful and wears a black Master Crown.

The Landion blade and Landion Helm are the respective Rarity 9 (Rarity 11 in Super Kirby Clash) Weapon and Armor set for Sword Hero Kirby, sold at Magolor's Shoppe. Their designs are based on Landia himself.

Kirby Star Allies
Landia makes a small cameo in the "FIGHT FOR THE CROWN" and "The Shape of a Heart" Celebration Pictures. In the first one, he appears in bottom-left and bottom-right panels, while in the second, he occupies the left side.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Landia appears as an attack-type ★★ primary spirit with 3 support slots. His initial stats are 834 attack and 603 defense, but when leveled up to level 99, he has 3,372 attack and 2,442 defense. He can be obtained in five ways: summoning him using the spirits or cores of Nibbles and Fortitudo, battling him in World of Light, battling him via the Spirit Board, or purchasing him from the Shop, however the latter two methods require him to be obtained at least once before.

Trivia
construction
*Landia's eyes are green when first encountered, and turn red when furious. After being defeated, they turn blue, and stay that way throughout Another Dimension.
Landia appears as the penultimate and final boss of the Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash. It is described as a guardian angel, and has two distinct forms. Landia, the 4-headed guardian who sleeps in Haldera Volcano, has been revered as this planet's protector since ancient times...so why is it awake now? And looking this way so angrily?! Eep!
— VS Landia Special Page in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Physical appearance[edit]

Landia EX looks largely identical to his regular form, but bears a largely purple body color instead. Both this and his regular orange color are references to the Great Dragon's different colors in Kirby Super Star Ultra.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land / Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

Landia initially appears as a single four-headed dragon when his fight begins. When the second phase begins, however, he splits into four separate dragons.

As a boss[edit]

Landia is faced as the boss of Dangerous Dinner. During the first phase of the fight, he fights as the whole dragon. During the second phase, he splits up and attacks as the four smaller dragons, and the dragon wearing the crown takes more damage than the other three. They may recombine into their four-headed form during the second phase for certain attacks.

The following lists all of Landia's attacks in the Story Mode of Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

Attacks - Story Mode
Attack Description
ファイアブレス
Fire Breath
Landia fires individual fire balls from his mouths that cannot be inhaled.
テイルアタック
Tail Attack
Landia flies in close and performs three rapid spins, striking with his wings and his feet. The last strike leaves drop stars behind.
グライドアタック
Glide Attack
Landia dives in a maneuver that cannot be dodged using a crouch, leaving drop stars at the lowest point of the dive. When split into four, all four Landias dive across the stage, two at a time.
ツインブレスファイア
Twin Breath Fire
Landia breathes fire with two of his heads, covering much of the stage. In phase 2, Landia moves up and down while spouting flames instead of staying in one place.
ウィンドカッター
Wind Cutter
Landia flaps his wings, creating a torrent of wind that pushes Kirby back, and also creates sharp cutter blades that can do damage and can't be inhaled.
Second phase only
ファイアレイン
Fire Rain
Landia repositions and fires downward repeatedly, covering a large area systematically. The first and last shots leave drop stars.
グランドクロス
Grand Cross
Landia flies into a grid formation, and starts charging electricity between his bodies. He will either reposition or move about in a counterclockwise manner.
フォーメーションパス
Formation Pass
Landia forms a large fireball and tosses it around to his other parts. It then flies into the background, and crashes on the stage, leaving drop stars.
*Attack names are from official Japanese strategy guides, unless otherwise stated.

In Extra Mode, Landia transforms into Landia EX when encountered. In this form, his color scheme is purple, and his attacks are generally faster and cover more ground.

Attacks - Extra Mode
Attack Description
ウィンドカッター
Wind Cutter
Landia flaps his wings, creating a torrent of wind that pushes Kirby back, and also creates sharp cutters that can do damage and can't be inhaled. Landia then circles around and performs this move again on the other side.
テイルアタック
Tail Attack
Landia flies in close and performs three rapid spins, striking with his wings and his feet. The last strike leaves drop stars behind. Faster than the normal counterpart.
Additionally, Landia may do one tail attack, spit fire and repeat two more times.
グライドアタック
Glide Attack
Landia dives in a maneuver that cannot be dodged using a crouch, leaving drop stars at the lowest point of the dive.
Additionally, Landia might fly into the background before attempting to ram into Kirby, similar to one of Dyna Blade's attacks from Kirby Super Star.
When split into four, all four Landias dive across the stage, one at a time.
ツインブレスファイア
Twin Breath Fire
Landia breathes fire with two of his heads, covering much of the stage. Landia moves side-to-side while performing this move and in phase 2, also moves up and down. Additionally, Landia may systematically use this move, then move to a different position and use it again.
ファイアブレス
Fire Breath
Landia fires paired fire balls from his mouths that cannot be inhaled.
Many more shots than the normal counterpart.
Second phase only
グランドクロス
Grand Cross
Landia flies into a grid formation, and starts charging electricity between his bodies. He will either move from left-to-right and right-to-left while stopping the electric charge every-so-often or move about in a counterclockwise manner before stopping and reversing direction.
フォーメーションパス
Formation Pass
Landia forms a large fireball and tosses it around to his other parts, while moving closer in, then back out. The fireball then flies into the background, splits into three, and crashes on the stage, leaving drop stars.
クアドラプルグライドアタック
Quadruple Glide Attack
Landia dives each of his bodies across the stage, one at a time.
ファイアレイン&グライドアタック
Fire Rain & Glide Attack
Three of the Landias re-position and fire multiple shots downward repeatedly, covering a large area systematically. The first and last shots leave drop stars. Additionally, the dragon wearing the Master Crown will perform a Glide Attack while this is happening.
*Attack names are from official Japanese strategy guides, unless otherwise stated.

As an Ally[edit]

Role in Merry Magoland[edit]

Landia comes to play above the spires of Merry Magoland.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Landia is one of the paintings which Paintra can draw in her boss battle (or Landia EX in her DX form).

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]

From Team Kirby Clash
EX form from Team Kirby Clash

Landia appears as the penultimate (in normal form) and final (in EX form) boss of the Sub-Game Team Kirby Clash. His fights here are largely identical to his normal and EX fights in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, though he has significantly more health and tires out for a few seconds at the end of the "Formation Pass" attack. Once his EX form is defeated, the Sub-Game is complete.

Landia is also represented by his emblem as a collectible sticker. The Landia Emblem sticker is randomly-obtained.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe & Super Kirby Clash[edit]

In-game capture of Landia from Super Kirby Clash.

Landia[edit]

Landia reprises his role in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash—his attacks and role in the story undiminished from before, though with even more health in order to provide more of a challenge for Team Kirby.

Landia EX[edit]

In Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, Landia EX serves as the fifth Ordeal, and defeating him rolls the first credits sequence. In Super Kirby Clash, Landia EX serves as the seventh Story Quest Ordeal, and fights identically to his previous battle. He also appears in a Toughest-rank Party Quest.

Parallel Landia[edit]

Main article: Parallel Landia

Bosses from Another Dimension invade the Dream Kingdom after the credits roll for the first time in Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, one of them being Parallel Landia, a black-colored counterpart to Landia who is much more powerful and wears a black Master Crown.

Landia-themed equipment set for Sword Hero[edit]

Main article: Magolor's Shoppe

The Landion blade and Landion Helm are the respective Rarity 9 (Rarity 11 in Super Kirby Clash) Weapon and Armor set for Sword Hero Kirby, sold at Magolor's Shoppe. Their designs are based on Landia himself.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

Landia makes a small cameo in the "FIGHT FOR THE CROWN" and "The Shape of a Heart" Celebration Pictures. In the first one, he appears in bottom-left and bottom-right panels, while in the second, he occupies the left side.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
