Separation[edit]

Why is this seperate from King Dedede? Unless this is a different character than the Dedede in the other games, this should be covered in the same article. Some other wikis may handle it like this, but we don't make seperate articles for individual appearances on WiKirby as long as it's the same character, sorry.--Vellidragon 09:39, 3 May 2011 (CDT) EDIT: Noticed the same thing was apparently done for Meta Knight. Meta Knight (Kirby Air Ride) should be merged into his main article as well unless it's a different Meta Knight.--Vellidragon 09:46, 3 May 2011 (CDT)

I made this article separate because it does not talk about King Dedede as a character; he is discussed as a selectable air ride machine which appears in Kirby Air Ride. All the points which are relevant about him as a character I have included in the article about him as character. Including the machine specs there bogs down that article, in the same way including everything about his personality and history would bog down this article. In my opinion, merging the two is simply bad organization. Though I would strongly disagree with you doing so, I will not stop you or another editor from clinging to archaic standards and merging this article with King Dedede's main article. However, please do not expect me to do it for you. The same applies for Meta Knight. --Guy 10:08, 3 May 2011 (CDT)
Might as well say that his Kirby's Dream Land section deals with him as a boss and not a character. As long as it's intended to be the same character, which this and the Meta Knight in Kirby Air Ride obviously are, sharing the same name and appearance within the same universe, they go in the same article. I don't know what's inspiring you to insult us for aiming to keep information about the same character in the same article, but these are the standards on WiKirby, and as long as no decision is made to have them changed, they will remain the standards. Displaying such an attitude and calling them "archaic" because a random wiki XYZ, which has no authority or superiority over WiKirby or other wikis, may handle a similar situation differently is simply unjust and unnecessarily offensive to all that have contributed to making this site what it is.--Vellidragon 10:25, 3 May 2011 (CDT)
I apologize for offending you, but my position remains the same. King Dedede is often a boss throughout the series, and as such it ties in with the article pertaining to his character as a whole. And yes, King Dedede in Kirby Air Ride is "obviously" intended to be the same character... which is why he has a Kirby Air Ride section in his article explaining his role as a character in that game. But please allow me to attempt to better explain why I made him separate. Although Kirby is the only one riding the, for instance, Winged Star, it is not included in his article... yet what you seem to be suggesting is that King Dedede's machine would be simply because it is his only machine. If I may theorize, you seem to be thinking that his article is about King Dedede as he appears in this game--which was not my intent in creating it. As you've perhaps noticed I only briefly mentioned his Vs. King Dedede appearance since it was related. After I have researched that stadium a bit more, his role there I intend to expand more upon only in the Vs. King Dedede and King Dedede articles, not here. I am now under the belief it was in my error to name this article King Dedede (Air Ride); would the title "King Dedede (Air Ride Machine)" be more apt? --Guy 10:52, 3 May 2011 (CDT)
Hm. So if I'm understanding this right, this is meant to be about how his machine works in the game? I'm sorry, I haven't played this game, and the title makes this appear as though it was meant to deal with the character in Kirby Air Ride. Looking at the article itself, it actually seems to jump back and forth between dealing with the machine and the character (the appearance part is an example; if this is about the machine, only the machine should be described). I see your reasoning about keeping this seperate as an article on the machine, but I see no reason why information on the character's appearance in the game should also be in here and not in his own article. The information on Dedede himself in here is very misleading in regards to the apparent intent of this article. And yeah, a title change may help, too; if the machine he rides has no official name, maybe just (semi-conjecturally?) name this "King Dedede's machine" or something, so people don't presume it's about the character?--Vellidragon 12:46, 3 May 2011 (CDT)
Well, "King Dedede" appears right alongside the other machines--like the Winged Star and Wheelie Bike--in the selection screen. Since it is referred to as "King Dedede" in-game, I am under the impression whatever is added to this to separate it from the main article should be in parenthesis. As far as the game seems to be concerned (outside of Vs. King Dedede, anyway), he and his machine are one in the same, which made it difficult for me to draw the line about what is a characteristic of the Air Ride Machine and what is a characteristic about the character. I agree about appearance, insofar as the second paragraph; that should likely go to the main King Dedede. Some of his mechanics, particularly in relevance to the hammer, I believe could go in both articles... But aside from those two sections, I believe only minor re-wording of this article is in order. --Guy 13:01, 3 May 2011 (CDT)
Yeah, I was suspecting the game would only call the "machine" King Dedede, though in my humble opinion a slightly different but still justifiable (these things are officially called machines, after all, and it belongs to King Dedede) title for the sake of clarification would be excusable here, especially if using the exact one results in misunderstandings like this. Then again, I'm also probably not the right person to ask on Kirby Air Ride matters :\ --Vellidragon 13:35, 3 May 2011 (CDT)
