Super Dedede Jump is King Dedede's up special move in every game in which he appears in the ''[[Super Smash Bros. (series)|Super Smash Bros.]]'' series. It moves similarly to its appearance in the ''Kirby'' series, though its function is quite different. King Dedede is capable of initiating this jump from the air, which allows him to recover from great vertical distances. However, the move cannot hit opponents until King Dedede starts descending, and even at that, hits only below. While falling, King Dedede will meteor smash (send downward) any opponent he hits, which can be quite effective if used off-stage. If Dedede lands on an opponent, he will send them upward with a strong hit. His landing also produces two stars on his sides which deal a small amount of damage and can deter counterattacks. When recovering with the move, King Dedede can snap to the ledge when traveling upward, but will fall right past it on his descent unless the jump is canceled mid-flight, which will put him in a helpless state until he lands.

If King Dedede uses this move and hits a ceiling, he will crash back down and be stunned for a lengthy period of time.
