'''The Flower Plot''' is the 27th (25th in the 4Kids broadcast) episode of the ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]'' series. In this episode, a flower named [[Lovely]] grows in [[Whispy Woods Forest]], and [[Whispy Woods]] grows infatuated with it. Seeing this and still hoping to clear the forest away to build a country club, [[King Dedede (anime)|King Dedede]] hatches a plan to abduct Lovely and turn the flower into a [[monster]]. With this deed done, he uses [[Tiff]], [[Tuff]], and [[Kirby]] as unwitting pawns to replant the transformed Lovely in Whispy's vicinity, where she proceeds to drain his life force away. The plan nearly succeeds, but Lovely grows too impatient and tries to dispatch the kids, snapping Whispy out of his stupor and allowing Kirby to defeat her and save the forest using the [[Cutter]] [[Copy Ability]].

This episode marks the beginning of Season 2.

==Plot synopsis==

The episode begins in the central clearing of [[Whispy Woods Forest]]. On a small mound of soil in front of [[Whispy Woods]], a ray of sunlight peers through, causing a flower to grow. Whispy is pleased to see this new plant in his vicinity. A short time later, [[Tiff]], [[Tuff]], and [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] set out to camp in the forest in order to visit Whispy again. Along the way, Kirby briefly notices an [[Grasshopper Eavesdropper|odd-looking grasshopper]] which turns out to be a robotic spy for [[King Dedede (anime)|King Dedede]]. [[Beware: Whispy Woods!|As before]], Dedede plans to chop down Whispy Woods Forest to rebuild his country club, and is eavesdropping on the kids to find the way to the central clearing and get revenge on Whispy. As the grasshopper follows behind, Kirby and the kids reach Whispy Woods and reminisce on Dedede's previous plot to fell the forest and how it was foiled. Tiff and Tuff come forward for some apples, but are stopped by Whispy before they inadvertently step on the new flower which grew earlier.

Whispy Woods introduces the kids to the flower. On Tiff's advice, he names it [[Lovely]] and makes further accommodations to help it flourish. The kids help protect Lovely by fortifying the mound with a stone perimeter and placing a cancel sign down in front, while they continue being monitored by Dedede and Escargoon. At that moment, a cloudburst occurs, prompting Whispy Woods to lurch forward to protect Lovely from the driving rain using his canopy. As the storm progresses, strong winds pick up, and the kids help brace the flower from the storm as well using their tent. After an exhausting effort, the storm passes, only for King Dedede and Escargoon to show up and snatch Lovely away under the cover of a smokescreen. Kirby dispels the smoke using his [[inhale]], but by then it is too late.

Back at Castle Dedede, the thieves place Lovely into the [[Monster Delivery System]] and request that [[Night Mare Enterprises|N.M.E.]] transform it into a [[monster]], explaining that they intend to use it to destroy Whispy Woods. With the deed done, they leave Lovely in a conspicuous place in the castle for the kids to find and return to the forest with. The kids re-plant Lovely in the mound - much to Whispy's gratitude - when the flower begins to speak. With her newfound power of speech, Lovely begins to infatuate Whispy, causing him to grow even more obsessed with her. Seeing this, Tiff and Tuff begin to grow suspicious, but they nonetheless leave Whispy and Lovely alone for the moment. Later that evening at the castle, [[Sir Ebrum]] and [[Lady Like]] become worried that Tiff and Tuff have still not come home, so they send [[Fololo & Falala]] to go find them.

That night, as Whispy Woods and Lovely sleep in the forest, some of Whispy's apples begin to rot and his leaves begin to fall, while Lovely slowly grows in size. Seeing this, Tiff and Tuff attempt to covertly dig Lovely out of the mound, but Lovely spots them and alerts Whispy. After some failed excuses, Tiff tries to warn Whispy that Lovely has been turned into a monster, but Whispy refuses to listen to them and wraps them up with his roots. At that moment, Lovely makes her move and grows to envelop Whispy in her own roots, sapping him of much of his strength while the kids remain trapped. Seeing this through their spy, King Dedede and Escargoon move out to the forest to finish the job while Fololo & Falala watch on having found them. As Lovely continues draining Whispy's strength, he remains attached to her, still refusing to listen to Tiff despite the rest of the forest appealing to him. Regardless, Lovely's sapping causes him to weaken to the point where he can no longer hold on to the kids, and they are released. Seeing this, King Dedede and Escargoon move to intercept them, but are hampered by Fololo & Falala, who then proceed to destroy the spy. Tiff discovers the remains of the spy bot and show it to Whispy as proof of Dedede's plot, but this is still not enough for him. The kids move to stop Lovely again, but are knocked away. Lovely attempts to finish them off, when Whispy finally intervenes to protect them.

At that moment, King Dedede and Escargoon arrive in the woods with their [[Armored Vehicle]], having subdued Fololo & Falala. Dedede prepares to fire at Whispy with an explosive round, but Kirby intervenes to inhale the shell and spit it right back at the king, dispatching him. Lovely then starts spinning a set of petals like a saw blade, intent on using them to kill Whispy and the kids. Finally coming to his senses, Whispy instructs Kirby to fight her, and Kirby inhales one of these blade petals to gain the [[Cutter]] [[Copy Ability]]. After a brief duel, Kirby cuts Lovely down, as Whispy looks on with great sadness. As Lovely wilts, she promises to return one day and not be a monster again. An unspecified amount of time later, Kirby and the kids return to Whispy Woods Forest and find that in Lovely's place is a dense grove of flowers. The episode ends as Whispy lifts Kirby up before he can carelessly tread on them.

==Differences between versions==
*In the Japanese version, the sign placed down by King Dedede reads in English "D D D Royal Country Club". The international versions just have King Dedede's emblem on it.
**In that same scene, King Dedede pulls out a metal chainsaw in the Japanese version, but has a laser-saw in the international versions.
*In the Japanese version, the sign that Tuff places in Lovely's flower bed reads in English "OFF LIMITS!". The international versions just have a cancel symbol on it.
*In the Japanese version, when the kids are reviewing King Dedede's plans to build his country club, the plans in question are emblazoned on the top-left with a crest displaying the name of the project. The crest is absent in the international versions.
**Notably, during an earlier shot when the kids are sneaking into the room, the crest is misspelled as "DDD Royal Country ''Clab''". Despite the mentioned international change, this particular error is preserved in both versions.

===Dialogue differences===
*In the Japanese version, Whispy Woods provides a short opening narration at the beginning and end of the episode which is not present in the international versions.
*In the Japanese version, Escargoon refers to his robotic spy grasshopper as the "Spy-Hopper". In the English version, it is called the "Grasshopper Eavesdropper", but is not named as such until [[War of the Woods]], where it is used again.
