'''Kracko''' is a recurring [[boss]] in the [[Kirby (series)|''Kirby'' series]]. He resembles a large floating cloud, but he has a single eyeball in his center and small spikes on his fringes. In every iteration, Kracko's signature attack is his ability to shoot lightning bolts, fire beams from his eye, and generate various minions from his body (usually [[Waddle Doo]]s or [[Li'l Kracko]]s). He also has a weaker, more premature form called [[Kracko Jr.]] His name is a pun on "crack", an onomatopoeia of the sound of lightning striking.

Much like [[Whispy Woods]], Kracko is one of the most iconic entities in the ''Kirby'' series, appearing in some form (usually as a boss) in the majority of its games. While he is typically mute, Kracko does occasionally and briefly speak. Kracko is sometimes referred to as the "lord of the sky" or the "cloud-spirit ruler", and has gone through many variations on his appearance over the course of the series.

==Characteristics==
Kracko's usual appearance is that of a large, fluffy cloud with a single, cycloptic eyeball (resembling that of Waddle Doo) and yellow spikes protruding from his sides. His coloration is generally white, with blue accents on top and pink accents on bottom, but he can also turn gray or even black during certain attacks; his alternate forms also tend to have more unnatural colors. His attacks consist of actions typically associated with clouds, such as generating rain and lightning to strike his foes. He also has more unusual abilities, such as firing beams of light from his eye and generating objects from within his body, including [[Waddle Doo]]s or [[Starman|Starmen]]. Later games demonstrate his ability to grow in size, extend his spikes into massive spears, and even split into two. His eye follows [[Kirby]]'s movement along the screen, and when defeated, he is typically shown dissipating into simply an eyeball before exploding.

While early games show that Kracko is merely one of [[King Dedede]]'s cronies, in later titles he is often seen in places that fall outside of the king's rule, such as the [[Mirror World]] and [[Floralia]]. It is established in later games that Kracko can manifest anywhere "as long as there are clouds in the sky", and after his defeat, he will always return at some point. Furthermore, Kracko takes his losses very personally and operates primarily to exact revenge on Kirby; as ''[[Kirby Fighters Deluxe]]'' reveals, he even felt betrayed when being "replaced" by [[Mecha-Kracko]] in ''[[Kirby: Squeak Squad]]''. Kracko makes his debut as the fourth boss of the stage [[Bubbly Clouds]]. In this stage his juvenile form, [[Kracko Jr.]] also appears as a mini-boss. Later on, Kracko also appears in [[Mt. Dedede]]. Kracko himself has 6 HP, while his Kracko Jr. form has 3. Kracko summons Waddle Doos and uses a variety of Beam attacks.

In Extra mode, he charges faster and drops bombs. Like Kracko Jr, most of his attacks in this mode can be avoided if Kirby stays in the leftmost corner, the sole exception being his charging attack.

Kracko appeared as the fourth boss of ''[[Kirby's Adventure]]'' and ''[[Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land]]'', in the level [[Grape Garden]]. He starts out as [[Kracko Jr.]].

At the start of the battle, [[Kracko Jr.]] can be seen in the air, and a [[Starman]] appears to the right. Kirby must inhale it for the [[Hi-Jump]] ability and ascend through the layers of cloud. Kirby must be quick, as Kracko Jr. destroys the cloud layers one-by-one, and Kirby will lose a stock if he falls back down. Once Kirby reaches the top, Kracko Jr. morphs into Kracko and the fight begins.

Kracko attacks by shooting beams from his body, spitting out Starmen and swooping about, often shooting lightning in the process. To hurt Kracko, Kirby can spit the Starmen back at him, or use Hi-Jump to tackle the boss. Once Kracko is defeated, it explodes, leaving behind the fourth [[Star Rod]] piece for Kirby to collect.

Kracko appears as the boss of [[Kracko Land]] after transforming from [[Kracko Jr.]]. He attacks by conjuring [[Flapper]]s and shooting lightning at the flippers to disable them. After five successful hits, Kracko is defeated.

Kracko appears not as a boss in this game, but instead as a rare hazard on courses. He floats in the air and will occasionally drop lightning bolts below. Both times, he flies about the area, laying a continuous line of [[Gordo]]s to attempt to box Kirby in. Meanwhile, he will be firing Co-Krackos (in level 3) or his signature lightning bolts (in level 6) at Kirby. To defeat him, Kirby must fire a continuous barrage of [[Air Bullet]]s at the cycloptic cloud.

Any other opponents nearby who approach the target being zapped will also get shocked. Kracko will do this one - to - four times before flying away from the race. Once picked up, the Kracko orb is used right away, allowing the racer to immediately pick up another item.

Kracko is souped up and possesses many new attacks not seen in previous iterations.

Kracko's spikes now have new colors, ranging from orange to green instead of just yellow, a trait that would be carried to later games. Whenever Kracko's body takes a hit, a visible tear drops from his single eye. Upon his health being reduced to half, Kracko's eye and complexion become red, and he opens up with many more attacks after clearing away the background with a whirlwind, making this a factor in the fight. Losing to Kracko twice in a row will result in additional platforms closing the gaps in-between the background pillars, making the fight easier.

In the anime, Kracko appears in episode four, [[A Dark & Stormy Knight]], notably referred to using neutral pronouns. It is a [[monster]] sent by [[Night Mare Enterprises]] at [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]]'s request. The [[N.M.E. Sales Guy]] describes Kracko as a company secret, and hopes to test Kracko out by sending it after [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]].

[[Meta Knight (anime character)|Meta Knight]] finds out about the transaction, and tells [[Tuff]] to warn Kirby about Kracko's arrival, but he does not make it to Kirby and [[Tiff]] in time, and they are confronted by a giant storm. Kracko is obscured within the storm at first, and rains down lightning continually on Kirby in an attempt to kill him. As they run through [[Cappy Town]], several of the villagers are inadvertently targeted by the lightning strikes as the storm makes chase. These bolts also target King Dedede, prompting him to try and return Kracko to N.M.E., but they refuse, citing a one hour no-return period in the contract.

After a while, Tiff calls upon the [[Warp Star]] to help Kirby fight the storm. Kirby uses the star to fly into the storm's eye, where he finds Kracko. Kirby attempts to parry Kracko's lightning strikes, and tries to inhale its clouds, but this appears to be ineffective. Eventually, Kracko throws out a lightning bolt shaped like a scimitar. Kirby swallows this and obtains the [[Sword]] ability. Using this ability, Kirby throws a series of giant sword beams at Kracko, which cut the monster in half and defeat it.
