'''Kirby Comes to Cappy Town''' is the first episode of the ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]'' series. It sets up the essential premise of the show by introducing all of the primary characters, starting with [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] who comes crashing into [[Dream Land (anime)|Dream Land]] in his [[Kirby's Starship|Starship]]. ==Plot synopsis==

The episode begins in [[Dream Land (anime)|Dream Land]], where [[Octacon|a giant flying octopus monster]] is terrorizing the people of [[Cappy Town]] by eating their livestock then flying back to [[Castle Dedede]]. A mob of angry [[Cappy (anime)|villagers]] along with [[Tiff]] and the rest of her family confront [[Escargoon]] and [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] about the situation, but they deny responsibility, as their pet octopus is tiny by comparison. Meanwhile, [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] is flying through deep space in [[Kirby's Starship|his starship]] when it initiates a warp to a new part of the galaxy in response to a threat signal.

The residents of Cappy Town meet in [[Kabu Canyon]] to ask the great sage [[Kabu]] for guidance. Kabu informs them that the octopus monster is indeed King Dedede's doing and that a [[Star Warrior]] named Kirby is coming to save them. King Dedede attempts to break up this gathering using his [[Armored Vehicle]], but Kirby's ship crash-lands at that moment, prompting them all to have a look. They recover Kirby from the wreck and confirm his identity, but are dismayed that he does not resemble any sort of hero. King Dedede knocks Kirby into a deep ravine using his hammer, and Tiff, [[Tuff]], and [[Fololo & Falala]] go down there to his aid.

While trying to rescue him, Tiff falls into the ravine. Kirby saves her by catching her in the air, and the group gets acquainted with him after leaving the ravine. Just as they begin to understand Kirby's infantile nature, King Dedede comes riding in again to dispose of Kirby, who flees into a [[watermelon]] patch, but gives up the chase after Escargoon whispers a new plan into King Dedede's ear. The townsfolk then invite Kirby to a dinner, where he proceeds to [[inhale]] all the food and then run off. Tiff and Tuff find him next to scattered sheep bones, causing them to think he may have eaten the sheep as well, so they hide him in a barn where they are discovered by [[Meta Knight (anime character)|Meta Knight]] and his apprentices [[Sword Knight (anime character)|Sword Knight]] and [[Blade Knight (anime character)|Blade Knight]]. They identify Kirby and then prepare to locate the octopus monster when an explosion occurs at Castle Dedede.

At the castle, King Dedede and Escargoon are attempting to fix Kirby's ship, which they had transported there. King Dedede takes a small [[Warp Star|star]] from the ship and then heads into his throne room to chat with the [[Night Mare Enterprises]] representative, the [[N.M.E. Sales Guy]], to complain about the octopus, saying it's too small. After some reassurance, Dedede goes to check in on his octopus when it casts a sort of hypnosis on him. Kirby enters the throne room looking for his star when King Dedede attacks him wildly in his possessed state. In the confusion, Tiff gets a hold of the star, but can only watch as Kirby is pummeled first by Dedede, then by [[Octacon]] as it reveals its true form and starts destroying the castle.

Kirby is cornered by Octacon and its spawn on a pillar of rubble, but Tiff shows up and holds up Kirby's star while calling out to him, granting him the strength to fight back. He inhales Octacon's children and gains the [[Fire]] ability. Tiff then tosses Kirby his Warp Star, and he uses it to rain fire breath down on Octacon on all sides to defeat it. The townspeople thank him for this, as N.M.E. observes from afar. Later on, Kirby prepares to leave using his repaired starship, but King Dedede had the ship rigged to explode. The ship crashes right onto his own vehicle however, ruining both, and Kirby has no choice but to stay in Dream Land for the time being, which he is pleased about.

==Differences between versions==
*The Japanese version starts with the scene with Kirby warping in his starship instead of the scene where the sheep are eaten.
*When King Dedede rolls in on his Armored Vehicle to break up the gathering in Kabu Canyon, a close-up of one of the [[Cappy (anime)|Cappies]] getting up after being run over is cut from the international versions.
*During the dinner scene, the international versions cut out the shot where the Cappies toast with their wine glasses.

===Dialogue differences===
*In the Japanese version, Tiff generally acts more prideful, even when saved by Kirby in the ravine.
*In the Japanese version, Escargoon threatens the Cappy crowd with the death penalty instead of threatening to lock them up in the dungeon.
*In the Japanese version, Kabu says that Dream Land would be destroyed. 
**This eventually happened in [[Cappy Town Down]].
*Kabu specifically mentions eNeMeE and his corporation instead of keeping him vague.
*When King Dedede and Escargoon are working on the ship, their plan in the Japanese version is to lure Kirby over with it, rather than repair it: the latter point is an excuse that Escargoon makes up when Kirby appears.
*King Dedede does not mention wanting a refund in the Japanese version.
