Dyna Blade: Difference between revisions

Since her debut in ''Kirby Super Star'', Dyna Blade has made several subsequent appearances in the [[Kirby (series)|''Kirby'' series]], though seldom as more than a cameo appearance or other small role. She has also appeared a couple of times in the ''[[Super Smash Bros. (series)|Super Smash Bros.]]'' series. In addition to her appearance in the games, Dyna Blade is also a side character in ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]''. Dyna Blade is generally understood to be female, but several bits of flavor text erroneously refer to her with male pronouns.

Dyna Blade appears in one event in the [[City Trial]] mode of ''[[Kirby Air Ride]]''. During this event, Dyna Blade will fly in and land in a predetermined, though randomly selected location within the city, with her size being comparable to the larger buildings. She will harm any racers who touch her but can be attacked by flying into her head, which will cause her to drop items of various value, usually [[Patch]]es or [[Food]]. Dyna Blade will fly off and land in one other location given enough time. After being damaged sufficiently or a short time after her second landing, she will fly off and the event will end.

 

Notably, the in-game flavor text for Dyna Blade refers to the character using male pronouns, which is inconsistent with the rest of the series and likely a mistake.

Dyna Blade appears in the anime, ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]'', as a minor character, first appearing in the episode [[Kirby's Egg-Cellent Adventure]].

Unlike most characters, she makes almost every appearance in 3D, with her specific character [[model]] being updated in later episodes. Dyna Blade is shown to be a legendary bird with metal wings and feathers, which explains why "blade" is in her name. She is said to be seen every 100 years. Unlike many other characters in the show, Dyna Blade does not have any speaking roles, though she is still fairly intelligent.

In her first appearance, [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] tricks [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] into eating Dyna Blade's egg, which causes her to wreak havoc upon [[Cappy Town]]. However, it is found that Dyna Blade's chick had already hatched before being eaten, and she forgives Kirby. After that, she is rarely seen outside of small roles or cameo appearances, and the only other episodes which features her prominently are [[The Empty Nest Mess]] and [[Waste Management]].

The following is a complete list of all of Dyna Blade's appearances in ''Kirby: Right Back at Ya!'', along with other information regarding her role in each episode:

|Dyna Blade takes center stage in this episode as her return to [[Dream Land (anime)|Dream Land]] causes a commotion via strong gusts of wind generated by her passing. After a bit of investigation, the Dream Landers discover that Dyna Blade has return to Dream Land in order to rear her chick, and has nested in a high craggy peak. [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] and [[Escargoon]] trick [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] into scaling the mountain and reaching the nest to eat her egg, which Kirby appears to fall for. When Dyna Blade returns to her nest to discover the egg broken open and her chick missing, she flies into a rage looking for the one responsible, and discovers it to be Kirby after King Dedede paints a pictograph for her depicting Kirby eating the egg. After spending a fair amount of time attacking Kirby, who tries to get away using the [[Warp Star]], the giant bird eventually discovers that her chick is safe and sound at the beach, and that Kirby had been trying to look after it. While it is still understood that Kirby had wanted to eat the egg, but didn't because it hatched on him, Dyna Blade forgives Kirby since ultimately no harm came of the chick.

|Dyna Blade makes a very brief appearance near the end of the episode during the fireworks display after Kirby's battle with [[Sasuke]], watching from her mountain.

|In this episode, Dyna Blade flies into a rage again when she discovers her chick to be missing once more, this time directly kidnapped by King Dedede and Escargoon. Dyna Blade initially determines Kirby to be responsible and attacks him, but Kirby evades her and leads her to [[Castle Dedede]], where she finds and stops Dedede and Escargoon from using their Insta-Monster Mixture on the chick and punishes them by dropping them from high up in the air.

|In this episode, Dyna Blade is only briefly seen, watching the [[Phantom Star Gerath|asteroid]] heading towards Dream Land from her mountain.

|In this episode, King Dedede and his tour group disturb Dyna Blade at her nest as part of the tour, so she attacks them by knocking their bus down the mountainside. Despite the clear danger, the tourists seem to have found this episode to be the most enjoyable part of the tour up to that point.

|In this episode, King Dedede gets in trouble with Dyna Blade when he tries to eat her chick, hallucinating the chick as a walking roast turkey. The Waddle Dees and Kirby assemble to save King Dedede from his foolish actions, while also getting the chick to safety.

|In this episode, Dyna Blade is attacked by [[Crowemon]] and his army of mind-controlled birds, who are seeking to take over Dream Land. Crowemon kidnaps Dyna Chick and holds it hostage, forcing Dyna Blade to allow him to attack her. Kirby saves both Dyna Blade and the chick by using the [[Wing]] ability against Crowemon.
