"Milky Way Wishes: Shooting" can be divided into four sections. The first one features techno beats in a rhythm of one-and-two, intercepted by trumpets and the [[HAL Laboratory music equipment#Notable sound samples|ARR1 synth]] mimicking a dial-up sound. The second part has an unsettling violin as its lead instrument overlaid by an eerie sound akin to the [[Sparkling Stars (theme)|Sparkling Stars]]. The next two sections are reprises of the first two with slight alterations: all of the instruments in the first section now focus on the intense beat in the third section, and the fourth section plays a version of the second section that slowly rises in pitch before being interrupted by a semitone-descending passage that transitions back into the start of the theme.

The theme debuts in ''[[Kirby Super Star]]'', where it plays when flying in [[Galactic Nova (stage)|the insides of Galactic Nova]] and during battle with [[Galactic Nova Nucleus|its heart]]. It can be found as track 53 in the game's [[Jukebox/Kirby Super Star|Jukebox]].

"Milky Way Wishes: Shooting" reappears in [[Kirby Super Star Ultra|the remake]], serving the same purpose. Not much was changed, other than the techno beats sounding lighter. It can be found as track 061 in the game's Jukebox.

The theme is incorporated into "[[Vagrant Counting Song of Retrospection]]", the boss battle theme for [[Star Dream]]'s third phase, to signify its connection with Galactic Nova.

A full-blown remix also appears as the first theme for [[Star Dream Soul OS]]'s fourth phase, titled '''"Soul 0 System"'''. As usual for ''Kirby: Planet Robobot''{{'}}s music, the arrangement has a cybernetic feeling, making heavy use of synths to carry the music. Although it skips the second and fourth sections of the base track in favor of various implementations of "[[Bright Spinning Planet]]", this version carries an even more dangerous, chaotic feel with the use of an organ and certain instruments glitching or skipping like a scratched music CD and intentional dissonance. A remarkably low bass synth also emulates the siren-like sound heard in the ''[[Kirby Super Star]]'' version of "Marx's Mad Plan".

This remix was arranged by [[Hirokazu Ando]] and can be found as track 154 in the game's [[Jukebox/Kirby: Planet Robobot|Jukebox]]. On the ''[[Kirby: Planet Robobot Original Soundtrack]]'', it is part of a medley with "Vagrant Keepsake of Oblivion" and can be found as track 40 on disc 2.

*During the live interviews with the ''Kirby'' sound team on the [[Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert]], Jun Ishikawa talked a bit about the development of "Milky Way Wishes: Shooting". The very first version of it was very unlike the final song — [[Masahiro Sakurai]] asked him to make a theme for an auto-scroller shooter section in space, but after hearing the prototype, Sakurai said that it didn't fit. Ishikawa was confused at first, but after being shown the circumstances where the theme would play, he agreed that it didn't fit and completely recreated it.<ref name="25th"/>
