'''A Half-Baked Battle''' is the 57th episode of the ''[[Kirby: Right Back at Ya!]]'' series. In this episode, [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] accidentally gets a massive coconut cream pie blasted into his face on [[Channel DDD]], resulting in everyone in [[Dream Land (anime)|Dream Land]] laughing at him. To get revenge, Dedede tries to attack everyone in [[Cappy Town]] with pies, but this ends up backfiring when [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]] just eats the ones thrown at him. To overcome this obstacle, Dedede orders a [[monster]] called [[Belly Buster]] which throws pies that taste so terrible that even Kirby cannot stomach them. However, the monster becomes upset when it learns how much its targets hate its pies and ends up attacking Kirby, King Dedede, and [[Escargoon]]; swallowing them all up after revealing itself to be little more than a giant flying stomach. To avoid being digested, King Dedede and Escargoon give Kirby the [[Bomb]] [[Copy Ability]] so he can blow them out of there, defeating the monster, but launching the two into one more face-ful of custard for good measure.

==Plot synopsis==

The episode begins with a special cooking program airing on [[Channel DDD]]. [[Escargoon]] and the [[Waddle Dee (anime character)|Waddle Dees]] are attempting to bake a coconut-cream pie for [[King Dedede (anime character)|King Dedede]] in a minute or less. After failing to meet the time requirement during preparation, the Waddle Dees rush to get the pie into a giant microwave for cooking. However, the overclocked microwave ends up exploding, launching the pie directly at King Dedede and coating him from head to toe in coconut cream. Seeing this, Escargoon and his crew laugh at Dedede's misfortune as the audience watching follows suit. Escargoon then milks the scene by showing instant replays of the pie crashing into King Dedede's face from various angles. Later on, King Dedede storms down the halls of [[Castle Dedede]] frustrated with the situation, when he overhears [[Tiff]]'s family laughing from their quarters. He barges in on them only to have them laughing directly in his face over the incident. King Dedede rushes out as Escargoon continues to exploit the incident on T.V. as much as he can, this time using a King Dedede dummy. 

At this moment, King Dedede barges into the studio and throws a pie into Escargoon's face to try and get even with him. Escargoon retaliates by throwing more pies at Dedede, resulting in the two engaging in a pie-throwing fight which results in the Waddle Dees getting hit in the crossfire. [[Captain Waddle Doo]] breaks up the fight by pointing out that they are still filming, and the kingdom is laughing at the two over their petty struggle. Seeing this, King Dedede decides to cancel the cooking show and get his revenge on his people. Later on, as the Cappies gather together in the [[Cappy Town]] plaza to reminisce on the show, King Dedede drives in with his film crew and a mountain of pies, and announces his intention to toss them at all of the people who "break the law". He starts by catapulting three pies into the faces of [[Kirby (anime character)|Kirby]], [[Tuff]], and [[Iro]], though Kirby seems to enjoy it. When [[Chief Bookem]] objects to the idea of being superseded legally by pie throwers, King Dedede orders pies flung into his face as well. The rest of the Cappies start to agitate about the disrespect Dedede is showing his people, but he ignores them and proceeds to pie everybody. The Cappies retaliate by tossing the pies back at Dedede which results in a large-scale pie battle.

During the fight, as Kirby gobbles up pies in midair, Tiff heads up to King Dedede and scolds him for needlessly wasting food. King Dedede prepares several pies to be launched at her, but Kirby gobbles them all up before they hit her. Dedede gets frustrated and pulls out his hammer to attack Kirby, but he is immediately pied by four of the Cappies before he can get off his car. Seeing this, Escargoon orders all the Waddle Dees to pull back for the moment. As time goes by, the Cappies have become enamored with the idea of the pie war, and soon start throwing pies at each-other for sport, while [[Chef Kawasaki (anime character)|Chef Kawasaki]] takes advantage of the craze by baking more pies for throwing. Tiff tries to berate Kawasaki for this profiteering but to no avail as the other Cappies buy up his pies. Tiff tries to tell the town that their pie-throwing obsession may be another one of King Dedede's plots. Meanwhile, back at the castle, [[Night Mare Enterprises]] sends a fruit basket to King Dedede to rub salt in the wound over his pie incident. King Dedede then requests a [[monster]] that can pelt Kirby with cream pie and overpower his ability to simply eat it up. Surprisingly, N.M.E. has a monster perfectly suited to this specific request, and sends it along.

Meanwhile, back in town, the people have set up a barricade of furniture with more pies at the ready to prepare for King Dedede's return, as Tiff appears to have accepted the inevitability of the fight and has joined in. King Dedede and his troupe then arrive and announce that from then on, anybody who says the word "poyo" is guilty of treason, naturally targeting one person in particular. After Kirby pops his head out and says the banned word, the Waddle Dees drag him up to face his sentence. As expected, Kirby is able to quickly gobble up the pies thrown at him. King Dedede then follows up by introducing his new horrific monster: the flying pie-throwing leviathan [[Belly Buster]]. The monster proceeds to pelt Kirby repeatedly with pies which the pink puffball will not eat and buries him in custard. After Kirby inadvertently splashes the onlookers when he emerges, King Dedede orders Belly Buster to attack the Cappies as well. After pelting them all, the monster proceeds to attack King Dedede and his minions as well. After Tiff gets hit by a pie that Kirby avoided, she berates the pink puffball for a moment, but then has a taste of the pie and realizes why he won't eat them. Her visceral reaction gets the monster's attention, and it notices that nobody else is enjoying its pies either. [[Meta Knight (anime character)|Meta Knight]] then appears on the scene and warns Tiff that Belly Buster is getting angry.

As Belly Buster renews its assault, Meta Knight spots Kirby hiding under the barricade. Tiff orders Kirby to suck the monster up, but Kirby outright refuses. From there, Belly Buster flies after Kirby, who jumps into the [[Royal Racecar]] with King Dedede and Escargoon for cover. Belly Buster then proceeds to slam into the car, throwing its custard everywhere. From here, it rises up and throws off its outer layer revealing its true form as a giant floating stomach monster and swallows the car with its occupants inside. Once inside, King Dedede and Escargoon notice the stomach acid starting to eat away at the tires of the Royal Racecar, and fear they may be digested as well. King Dedede remains calm and pulls out a bomb from the trunk of the car to detonate, not realizing it will cause them to explode as well. Thinking fast, Escargoon tells Kirby to inhale the bomb, giving him the [[Bomb]] [[Copy Ability]]. Using this ability, Kirby tosses bombs all around the stomach interior, which causes Belly Buster to explode. As Kirby falls out from the sky, Meta Knight tosses him [[Buttercup]]'s parasol so he can float gently down, while King Dedede and Escargoon plummet into the custard below. The episode ends as the town laughs at Dedede's misfortune and Kirby floats gently down into Tiff and Tuff's arms.
