Stone is an ability primarily obtained by absorbing a stone type enemy or even rocks from a boss. It allows Kirby to perform one of several stone-based attacks, as listed below.

Kirby can also obtain the stone ability through Copy Essence Deluxes. With the stone ability equipped, Kirby can create Rocky as a helper in Kirby Super Star and Super Star Ultra. Kirby's visual appearance usually changes by turning brown and wearing a helmet with a tail on top. Depending on the game, Kirby either simply turns into a stone version of himself or randomly into one of a wide variety of objects when using the ability. In Kirby Super Star, for instance, Kirby can turn into a golden Mario statue, a statue of Samus Aran, a star block, a bronze Kirby statue, a pink rock, an 8 ton weight or a strong man statue; its remake adds a mountain, an iron fist, statues of Rick, Kine and Coo, a Thudd and more.
