'''Master''' is a [[Copy Ability]] in ''[[Kirby & The Amazing Mirror]]''. It is obtained by wielding [[Meta Knight]]'s golden sword, provided by him just before the final encounter with [[Dark Mind]], and is left behind in [[Rainbow Route - Central Circle|the Central Circle]] after the game is completed. Master is considered the game's [[Last Battle Ability]], but unlike most of these abilities, it is not required to defeat the final boss. It can be dropped, and after the final boss is defeated, it can be used in the rest of the game like a standard ability.

==Overview==
Master is similar to the [[Sword]] ability at first glance, but bears key differences in its moveset. With nine separate moves, it is by far the most complex ability in ''Kirby & The Amazing Mirror''. Using the ability, Kirby can thrust upward to attack airborne opponents, throw beams using [[Final Cutter]] and Sword Beam, light [[fuse]]s using sword swipes, fly forward and bust metal [[block]]s using Drill Rush, and pound [[stake]]s using a downward Stab.

Kirby gains no hat or other costume piece when using this ability, but the sword itself glows with a strong golden light. While Kirby gains the Master ability to battle [[Dark Mind]] at the end of the game, the use of the ability is not required to defeat him, and the ability can be lost at any time, unlike other [[Last Battle Ability|Last Battle Abilities]] in the [[Kirby (series)|''Kirby'' series]].

===Visual inconsistencies===
Master is oftentimes depicted in an inconsistent manner throughout its appearances in ''[[Kirby & The Amazing Mirror]]'' and its corresponding official artwork. This includes the following:
*The gem on the sword's hilt is always colored red in-game, even in the ending screen. Official artwork depicts it as teal instead.
*While official artwork and in-game sprites always depict the sword's blade as colored gold, the ending image shows it as silver for unknown reasons.
*[[Meta Knight]]'s official artwork for this game (which is reused from ''[[Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land]]'') shows him using the [[Galaxia]], but most of his in-game appearances clearly show he wields the Master sword and gives it to Kirby later on. As such, it is currently unknown if the Master sword is the same as the Galaxia.
**The unique pause screen for Master also shows its top-left icon to resemble the Galaxia, but this should not be taken as an explicit confirmation that they are the same sword.

This is the Master ability's first game appearance. After [[Dark Meta Knight]] is defeated, a large vortex appears that leads to the lair of the game's final boss, [[Dark Mind]]. As the Kirbys jump into the vortex, the real Meta Knight, who is present, throws in his sword to help the Kirbys. When the Kirbys land in Dark Mind's lair, the sword is there, plunged into the ground, waiting for Kirby to [[GRAB IT!|get it.]] When Kirby touches the sword, he automatically gets the Master ability.

The sword that gives the Master ability appears at the start of every battle against Dark Mind, embedded into the ground. [[Shadow Kirby]] also briefly appears to toss the sword to Kirby during the battle against Dark Mind's second form. When touching the sword and dropping an Ability Star beforehand, the latter will not disappear when Kirby grabs the ability. Interestingly, any [[CPU]] Kirbys present cannot get the Master ability, as they do not attempt to inhale the sword (if it appears bouncing around) or just simply do nothing even if they touch the sword itself while embedded in the ground.

After beating the game, the ability becomes available in the Central Circle. Master is the strongest ability in the game and can solve every puzzle except for those that require [[Mini]] Kirby. Because of these factors, it is best used to reach [[100% completion]] by searching for any secrets one may have missed before clearing the game.
