| Unlike the previous level of [[Orange Ocean]], Rainbow Resort is not a particularly hard level for the most part. Instead, the stages therein take on a much more experimental feel, with radically different stage structures and visuals from those of the previous levels. As such, each stage is a surprise, with different challenges for Kirby to overcome, or relatively pleasant areas to explore. The second stage is the first example in the series of a [[Tower of Mid-Bosses]], where Kirby must contend with several [[Mid-Boss]]es in sequence as he climbs a structure. The sixth stage is a direct homage to the levels of ''[[Kirby's Dream Land]]'', complete with the [[Green Greens (theme)|Green Greens musical theme]] playing.

| The hub of Rainbow Resort opens up slowly and modestly for the majority of the stages, only really opening up once Stage 6 is complete. Unlike the previous levels, there is no [[Museum]] or [[Arena (Kirby's Adventure)|Arena]], and only one [[Sub-Game]] can be played here. As such, there are far fewer Big Switches to find than in the previous level. Pressing the [[Big Switch]] in Stage 1 unlocks the sub-game ([[Crane Fever]] in ''Kirby's Adventure'' and [[Bomb Rally]] in ''Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land''), and the Big Switch in Stage 6 unlocks the [[Warp Star Station|warp room]].
