Intro cutscene
The intro cutscene shows Kirby finding himself under a rainbow bar. Thinking it to be a musical note staff, Kirby gets out a stand mike and attempts to sing. The notes fly up to and occupy the rainbow bar, but after Kirby lets out one last shrill note, the rainbow bar breaks, prompting Kirby to immediately get out a Parasol to shield himself from the falling notes. This alludes to the well-known fact that Kirby is a terrible singer and he knows it.
Before entering the hub for the first time, a brief cutscene plays adorned in a red frame with the level's name overhead in the scene.

This intro cutscene takes place in the daytime in Kirby's Adventure, but at night in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
Stages
Overview
Unlike the previous level of Orange Ocean, Rainbow Resort is not a particularly hard level for the most part. Instead, the stages therein take on a much more experimental feel, with radically different stage structures and visuals from those of the previous levels. As such, each stage is a surprise, with different challenges for Kirby to overcome, or relatively pleasant areas to explore. The second stage is the first example in the series of a Tower of Mid-Bosses, where Kirby must contend with several Mid-Bosses in sequence as he climbs a structure. The sixth stage is a direct homage to the levels of Kirby's Dream Land, complete with the Green Greens musical theme playing.

Hub
The hub of Rainbow Resort opens up slowly and modestly for the majority of the stages, only really opening up once Stage 6 is complete. Unlike the previous levels, there is no Museum or Arena, and only one Sub-Game can be played here. As such, there are far fewer Big Switches to find than in the previous level. Pressing the Big Switch in Stage 1 unlocks the sub-game (Crane Fever in Kirby's Adventure and Bomb Rally in Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land), and the Big Switch in Stage 6 unlocks the warp room.

Once opened up completely, the Rainbow Resort hub is a rather detailed mural of the Fountain of Dreams along with surrounding structures of similarly elegant and otherworldly design.

Stages
Each stage is unlocked in succession after clearing the previous one. Clearing Stage 7 is necessary to move on to The Fountain of Dreams. For more information about a particular stage, click on the link to the stage's page in the table.

*Rainbow Resort is the only level in the game that does not have a Museum or an Arena (unless one counts the Tower of Mid-Bosses in Stage 2).

*The boss fight with King Dedede has a few differences between Adventure and Nightmare in Dream Land. In the latter, King Dedede is much larger, and the music that plays during the fight is changed to the Gourmet Race theme, based on the one used for the Super Smash Bros. Melee Fountain of Dreams stage.
