The online mode consisted of a ranked matchmaking system that placed the player in a room with three other players. Before entering the room, the player would choose between three randomly picked battle modes, then choose their ability/character. From there, the contestant was placed in the training room until all four players were connected. Then, one of the battle modes that the players picked was chosen at random, and the game began. Based on how well the player performed, they would be awarded a certain number of points, which could cause them to go up a level. Every time the player leveled up their profile, Battle Coins were awarded. As the player's level increased, however, it would become more and more time-consuming to level up further. Occasionally, there would also be a Team Battle Fever which would last a day long. During a Team Battle Fever, all matches played would be team battles.
