In ''Kirby and the Big Panic in Gloomy Woods!'', Broom Hatter lives with their friend [[Ringle]] in an ancient ruined building in [[List of novel-exclusive locations#Gloomy Woods|Gloomy Woods]]. After "the master" of the place had disappeared, Broom Hatter and Ringle's past relatives obligated them to guard a sacred crystal kept in the ruins. Broom Hatter has the additional job of keeping the place clean. During the events of the book, [[Kirby (novel character)|Kirby]] enters the ruins and inhales Ringle to get the [[Bell]] ability. Broom Hatter then steps in to see what happened. They realize what happened to Ringle, and rushes at Kirby. Broom Hatter stops when [[Meta Knight (novel character)|Meta Knight]] tells them that Ringle is unharmed. Broom Hatter tells the group about their job at the ruins, but quickly goes quiet to avoid mentioning the Stardust Crystal. When Meta Knight reminds them about Ringle, they then begin to explain everything. They guide Kirby and the others into the ruins, telling them about how valuable the treasure is, and that rumors of the master still being there have scared thieves away from the ruins. Broom Hatter adds that their family has always been in charge of cleaning, so they would not be able to fight back against bandits. After Kirby releases Ringle, the group then finds that the treasure had been stolen by the [[Woodkeeper]]. Kirby sets out with Meta Knight and [[King Dedede (novel character)|King Dedede]] to stop him. They succeed in the end, and the crystal is safely returned to Broom Hatter and Ringle.

In ''Kirby Clash Team Unite!'', the Dream Kingdom equivalent of the normal Broom Hatter lives in Castle Village. They first appear in Chapter 7, when they are attacked by [[Miasmoros]] and barely makes it out alive, though heavily damaged. While [[Doctor]] Kirby heals their wounds, they inform the residents of Castle Village about their encounter, which causes them to doubt if the problem with monsters is really gone. Broom Hatter is not mentioned again in the story, though they are among the villagers who give some of their Gem Apples to Team Kirby in preparation for the team's return trip to the Empyrean.
