The appearance of Bugzzy is similar to that of a stag beetle, but he has a humanoid body structure, with only four limbs and an upright posture. He wears white gloves and shoes, though in some games, his shoes match the purple color of his carapace. He has a blue thorax with two pairs of wings on his back encased in elytra, which he can use to fly in a similar manner to [[Beetley]] and [[Beetle]] Kirby.

In battle, Bugzzy can shoot ladybugs. He can also stomp on [[Kirby]], and toss him around. He will typically attack by either charging straight forward or jumping on Kirby from above. In ''[[Kirby Star Allies]]'', he is also capable of lunging from the air. In games before ''Kirby Star Allies'', Bugzzy does not drop [[Dropped Star]]s when he attacks, meaning that only his ladybugs can be used against him.

Bugzzy appears in ''[[Kirby's Adventure]]'' and [[Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land|its remake]] as one of the [[Mid-Bosses]], and is the only enemy that gives the Backdrop ability. Once Kirby is in his grasp, Bugzzy will either leap forward and drive him into the ground, slam him backwards or pound him repeatedly. Bugzzy may also fly into the air and hover in pursuit of Kirby, and will ensnare him if he gets close enough. Bugzzy supplies ammunition to use against himself in the form of two Bugzzy Jrs. that he releases into the air. These ladybugs slowly flutter and home in on Kirby. A faster variation of Bugzzy appears exclusively in the secret path of [[Rainbow Resort - Stage 2|Rainbow Resort's second stage]].

As a [[Helper|Friend]], Bugzzy gains access to all of [[Suplex]] [[Kirby]]'s moves. In the [[Kirby (novel series)|''Kirby'' novel series]], Bugzzy appears in ''[[Kirby: Uproar at the Kirby Café?!]]''. After [[Kirby (novel series)|Kirby]] inhales [[Hornhead]] and gets the [[Beetle]] copy ability, Bugzzy, the leader of the insects comes to and is asked by the [[Beetley]]s to help against him. Bugzzy is mad that Kirby and [[King Dedede (novel character)|King Dedede]] came to take the [[Green Spider Grass]] and rushes towards Kirby. Kirby avoids him and Bugzzy rams into a crate, blowing Dedede away in the process. King Dedede tries to fight him by swinging a piece of crate at him, but Bugzzy dodges. Bugzzy grabs Dedede's body to lift and slams him to the floor. Kirby attacks Bugzzy with the Beetle copy ability and flings him into the air. Kirby catches him with his horn and drops him, winning the fight. When Bugzzy regains his consciousness, he admires Kirby's strength. Kirby tells him why they need the Green Spider Grass. Bugzzy tells them about the insect who bit Dedede, apologizes and gives them the Green Spider Grass.
