Food
Food items are items in the Kirby series that heal the health of Kirby or one of his friends. Food has appeared in every Kirby game, as well as Super Smash Bros. games.
With each major iteration of the Kirby series, more varieties of food items are made available, though they all serve the same function, to restore varying amounts of Kirby's (or one of his friends') health. Additionally, in Kirby Super Star and Kirby's Return to Dream Land, it is possible to share food items by performing what is officially called a Face-to-Face, wherein, after one character eats a food item, if they quickly touch a friendly character, they will share the food with that character. This is an optimal strategy, as all participants are healed the full amount, as if each one obtained their own food item.
Game Appearances
Kirby's Dream Land
Only two food items appear in Kirby's Dream Land. They are the Energy Drink, which restores two points of health, and the Maxim Tomato, which restores all health. While the Superspicy Curry and the Mint Leaf are technically food, they do not recover any health, and instead serve a different function. In storyline, the reasoning behind why there are scarce food items is because King Dedede stole all the food from Dream Land. Kirby's goal is to get it back, along with the Sparkling Stars.
Whispy Woods drops apples as part of his attack, but these also do not recover health.
Kirby's Adventure
Much like in Kirby's Dream Land, only the Energy Drink and Maxim Tomato appear as food items.

In addition to the food items present in the games this collection features, food items from Return to Dream Land also make an appearance in the Fighter and Smash Combat Chambers in the New Challenge Stages Sub-Game.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Kirby: Triple Deluxe shares many of its food items with Return to Dream Land, but also introduces some new ones. Notably, the Energy Drink also returns after being absent from Return to Dream Land.
Additionally, some food items can be stored in a separate area after being collected, and can be used at any time to heal Kirby or King Dedede when deemed necessary.

Super Smash Bros. series
In the Super Smash Bros. series starting with Brawl onwards, the Superspicy Curry appears as an item. If a person attempts to eat it, balls of fire will appear from the player's mouth. If the player gets close to an enemy, the enemy will receive damage.
3DS / Wii U trophy description
"Hope you're a fan of spicy food, because this curry will set your mouth on fire! I'm not kidding - whoever eats this will actually shoot balls of fire from his or her mouth, hurting those who get too close. Water doesn't help with spiciness, so this works underwater too! Too bad there's no milk weapon..."
