Only two food items appear in ''[[Kirby's Dream Land]]''. They are the [[Energy Drink|Pep Brew]], which restores two points of health, and the [[Maxim Tomato|Bag of Magic Food]], which restores all health. While the [[Superspicy Curry]] and the [[Mint Leaf]] are technically food, they do not recover any health, and instead serve a different function. In the storyline, the reasoning behind why there are scarce food items is because [[King Dedede]] stole all the food from Dream Land. Kirby's goal is to get it back, along with the [[Sparkling Star]]s.

[[Whispy Woods]] drops apples as part of his attack, but these also do not recover health.
