The first time Degout makes an appearance is in the game Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Here, it can be found within the Egg Engines world in Halcandra and Pop Star area on Extra Mode. It acts and looks very similar to Scarfies and Mumbies. It cannot be inhaled and doesn't have any ability to speak of. Here, there are two types of the enemy: One is a grey-colored Degout. Some are passive, only attacking if attacked, and generally staying in one place. Others will attempt to pursue Kirby while his back is turned, much like a Boo from the Mario games. The second type is a red-colored one, known as a [[Hunter Degout]], which attacks any character holding a Key.
