— Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble Instruction Booklet (North American print), page 18.

? Hole[1] is a floor-bound object which appears in Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble. It resembles a shallow bowl-shaped depression in the ground with a blue hue and a question mark inset. Kirby can roll into this to make various things happen, including the following:

  • Displaying hints to the player, similar to Hint Boards.
  • Making Star Pieces appear.
  • Making a Balloon appear.
  • Triggering a roulette of items, allowing Kirby to obtain one of them. The items can be either Food, extra time, or 1ups and 3ups.

After activating a ? Hole, Kirby will be launched back out in a similar manner to a Jump Hole. Some ? Holes will also change to an orange hue after being used once to signify that they cannot be used again.
