In the opening cutscene for Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Meta Knight can be seen holding that book in question.

That book Meta Knight was reading on the knoll in the opening cutscene for Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a prop held by Meta Knight in the opening cutscene of Kirby's Return to Dream Land and its remake: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Meta Knight is seen reading this book next to the Butterfly as Kirby, King Dedede, and Bandana Waddle Dee run by along a nearby trail. Meta Knight pays them no mind, preferring to read his book, but is interrupted when the Lor Starcutter appears in the skies above Popstar and comes crashing down.

Description

The book in question appears to be bound in paperback, as the cover has a thickness comparable to the pages of the book. The cover is largely brown in hue, and has a vague illustration on the front which looks like a ringed planet with a smaller round object beneath it. No visible text can be seen on the cover, and since the contents of the book are never shown, it is not clear what the book is about, nor what language it may be written in.

In its appearance in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, the book has been given a redesign, now having a dark purple cover with gold trim and more detailed pages. Unfortunately, the image on the cover is a bit more obscured than before.

After its brief appearance in the cutscene, this book is never seen again.

Other examples of Meta Knight reading a book

Preview for the Meta Knight Putitto figurine.

Aside from these two video game appearances, there is a piece of merchandise which features Meta Knight reading a book. This merchandise takes the form of a small figurine which is part of the Kirby Putitto Volume 2 Figurine Set. Meta Knight's figurine has him reading a book in a very similar posture to that of his appearance in the cutscene. The book itself has a different cover, however, being red and featuring Meta Knight's mask, alongside some undecipherable text. Since this is a figurine, it is possible to see what the inside of the book looks like, but the pages visible are also covered in indecipherable text composed of squiggly lines.

In episode 3 of It's Kirby Time, Meta Knight knocks on Kirby's window and asks if he would like to read a book with him. Unfortunately, it is not revealed what the book contains, because Kirby is too sleepy to partake in the reading.
